Why is it hard to find jobs in London?

7

London’s population was 8.63 in 2016, how can all those people all have a job? I was wondering all night with a question my city London has. A problem London has is finding jobs, why does the government let this happen or do this on purpose? I was very curious about this question, then I started my research. (https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/business/economic-research-and-information/statistics/Pages/research-faqs.aspx)

I had my hypothesis before my research. It is hard to find jobs in London because the population is too much so every jobs has enough workers and helpers, also, jobs are important and hard to achieve. London’s government cannot do anything about this, they just want their country to be the best.

While the population in London and government is improving, jobs are important and hard to get. Many jobs in London are seeming dangerous to all of us, none of us wants these kinds of jobs, we want good jobs with high salaries, but the question is, how is that possible?

As it gets going on my research, my mind started to go the right way, the more I researched, the more interesting my mind goes, and on and on, I came to the middle of my research. I had a mid-conclusion, but I’m not really sure about answering my question, but I do know every country wants to improve, so does London. Government do this so London improves itself. Think, if everyone gets a job and is not afraid of losing a job, then they won’t work! London’s government need people that puts effort in everything so they can improve and become better and better comparing the the whole world.

If less people go to high class jobs such as the Head of Business Development, Salary Up to  £55,000, Financial Controller, Salary £50K~£60K, more people is going to lower class jobs such as the Delivery Driver, £10~£20 per hour, and most people is gonna end up with no jobs. (http://www.monster.co.uk/jobs/l-london,-london.aspx)

In my research I had challenges when I couldn’t find enough information and I was struggling weather to change my research question, then I discussed with my friends researching the same city and got back in track, my research is getting better and better!

I organized my time to make sure I leave at least 30 minutes each day to do my research, also, I made a research plan, I divided up the work and know what I am going to research before I started researching. As I am researching, I knew what am I doing and where my research is getting into, just starting? Almost done? Getting off track? I knew where I was going, and how to make it better.

Now the population of London is increasing every year, jobs are getting more important and hard to get, more people would get left out with no jobs.

I realized most of the jobs in London are mostly based on Education, Business Work, and Porter. “Class Teachers (EYFS, KS1 and KS2), Lewisham We are seeking Class Teachers for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 for a federation of primary schools based in Lewisham”. (Reed, 2)These jobs are very popular in London, but just because these works are Popular, workers are not much needed, it is enough, and even too much, people are left out with no jobs. (https://jobs.theguardian.com/jobs/government-and-politics/london-greater-/)

Jobs are hard to get in London because the population in London is increasing every year and more people would get left out, only less people can get the job. “On average, one baby was born every four minutes in London during 2013”. (BBC, 9) As the population is increasing every 4 minute, less workers are needed in a certain job.

The problem about finding jobs in London isn’t the government’s fault, they need to improve themselves so their whole country improves.

As the salary increases each year, the positive earnings figures pushed median gross annual income for full-time employees to £27,600, an increase of 1.6% on the previous year. “Workers secured a 1.8% rise in average annual earnings in the year to April”. (The Guardian, 2015) Now, as you see when the Salary Increase in each year, less workers are needed in a certain job or work, the company has to pay extra salary to workers, so they wish to has less but enough workers so that the company doesn’t lose money.

Table 1 (Monster.co.uk, 2016)

Table 2 (The Guardian, 2015)

As you can see the tables above (Table 1 and 2) Some jobs have higher salaries and some have less, also the jobs that has more salaries are less. “This represents 8.5% of Greater London’s employment, and 1.4% of the UK’s total employment, meaning over 1 in 100 of the UK’s workforce are employed in the City.” This stands out that better jobs are harder to get, and more people would need to go to the jobs with lower salaries, and most people would have ended up with none of these jobs.

The parts in the Government of London is trying to solve this problem, but so far they couldn’t because if they stop their steps now, and make all the people that does not put effort in anything into jobs, their rankings comparing the the world would fall, and the government doesn’t want that to happen. “The 25 candidates who have been elected as London Assembly Members for the next four years have also now been announced by the Greater London Returning Officer.” (London.gov.uk, 2016). As you could see, everyone in the Government of London is putting so much effort for their country, you couldn’t give people that doesn’t do anything a job, they don’t deserve it.
