Week 5

Thank you for your continued support! I appreciate all the emails and communication that has occurred. Please, continue to ask questions, send comments or concerns, and keep the lines of communication open.

I am sharing a few links from Edmodo to help ensure that you can access this website easily. I hope that this information will be beneficial for you.

How To For Parents and Parent Accounts

Middle School English

My lesson started out about figurative language. Students often struggle when authors use words different than literal meaning. I realized during the figurative language song that many students were embarrassed to participate. Naturally, our lesson turned into one about taking risks and facing the fears of being embarrassed. As I stated at Open House, I want students to be well rounded as well as literate in the English language. The students have a link to the song and the lyrics. Ask them to perform it for you.

Students had their second DGP quiz this past week as well as their third quote analysis. I feel that everything is moving at the just the right pace. I am very proud that students are becoming more comfortable with my expectations and meeting them.

Life is a natural school, and I want to be as knowledgeable as possible. Therefore, I want to live my life to the fullest and view everyday as an adventure. It doesn't get any better than reading, viewing, or listening to a great story. "I must say that I find television very educational. The minute somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a book." ~Groucho Marx "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." ~Walt Disney "We read to know we are not alone." ~C.S. Lewis "Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him." ~ Maya Angelou "It is not true we have only one life to live, if we can read, we can live as many lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish." ~S.I.
