Eric Chen’s CAS Journey – Early Oct. 2020 Edition

Wow… That was quick. Another two weeks have passed, and that means that here comes another edition of my CAS Journey Reflection. Indeed, this one’s worth a lengthy reflection as October was certainly more interesting and engaging than the previous month…

After I was told that my previous proposal regarding a talent show competition has been postponed due to the ongoing work on Spirit Week, I began to work on another proposal while I am waiting for the House Committee to complete their work on Spirit Week. I was reading a book called “To Make Men Free” by Heather Cox Richardson that was about the history of the Republican Party, and I thought that it might be a great choice for a CAS project. So I have been taking notes while reading it ever since, hoping to create a timeline of the history of the GOP that is similar to the one I have done for banknotes as part of my MYP Personal Project in aesthetics. (That’s why Personal Projects are very important to the IB Diploma Programme!)

The product should look similar to this timeline.

On the other hand, I got my hands on my first “Service” based CAS experience as a GIN club member, contributing to 2 tote bag designs that will eventually land on other people’s hands as part of the ongoing Lebanon Relief Fund charity sale. Even though the design was pretty simple, I consider this as my one and only masterpieces in art throughout my years at KAS and hopefully, those who bought them will also like my design 😉
