Eric Chen’s CAS Journey – Late Oct. 2020 Edition

Well, October is quickly coming to an end… So here comes another version of my CAS Journey reflection.

For the last two months of October, I focused primarily on Service-based experiences as an extensive amount of homework has resulted in me halting all creativity and activity-based experiences at this moment. As with the previous service-based experience, this experience was also conducted as part of my membership within GIN Club. As we had identified an omnipresent global issue of extensive plastic trash that weren’t disposed of properly, we have decided to partner with a NGO called Taiwanderful to deliver them eco-bricks — that is, plastic bottles filled with all kinds of plastic trash in order to support their efforts of building eco-friendly structures and houses.

Here are the pictures and videos that were taken during our work day on October 12.

This GIN activity allowed me to become an open-minded and caring person as this had a significant impact on my views on this global trash crisis. I didn’t realize that we humans have generated that much recyclable trash that could be properly recycled but didn’t receive the necessary treatments for them to be reused until now. This transformed me into a more environmentally-caring person and with it, environmentalist ideas as well.

I can’t wait for my Talent Show planning to resume after this week as this week is the annual Spirit Week! Let’s see that my proposals will result in after discussions with the House Committee take place after this week.
