Unit 3 Test Reflection

When I did the Unit 3 Test Reflection, I didn’t do well because I haven’t revised much the day before. If I revised, I am pretty sure I would’ve done a way better job on the test.

One way I could improve this work could be if I practice and revise this Science topic longer, and take notes so I can refer to it whenever I forget anything. I could also carefully check my work after i finish it. When revising, I can go to google classroom, read my textbook, or ask questions when I don’t understand something. If during the test I don’t understand the question, I should skip it first so I don’t waste time.

When doing this piece I think I demonstrated thinkers because I took time to think about what the correct answer should be and I also thought about the question to understand it better.

Reflection of Ceramic Garden

First I used a wire cutter to cut out how much clay I needed, but I didn’t know if I took too little or too much clay. Then I put the clay on the canvas. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make at first, then I just decided to do a flower. I used the needle tool to carve out the flower petals, and I realized that it was taking too long and the flower petals looked quite weird.

So I just made a cactus since it was quite easy and it only took a short time to make it. I had to mould the clay into a cactus shape and it was quite hard because the clay was kind of hardening so i took the spray bottle and sprayed my clay to make it wet and softer.

I used the carving tool to make the lines of a cactus and used water mixed with clay to make the clay smoother so it doesn’t look so messy. After making the clay cactus, I used the needle tool to scratch the bottom of the clay and the flower pot. I also wet the scratched part, then i sticked the cactus to the scratched part of the flower pot.

I smoothed out the parts where it was messy and carved out the bottom of the flower pot because it was too thick and it will not dry quickly.

Perspective Drawing Reflection

First I was told to draw out a word in a perspective. I decided to draw out my name since I didn’t know what else to write. I did a cursive type of font for my artwork because it was fancy and I couldn’t think of any nice and easy shapes or patterns to put inside the letters. After that, I quickly did the three-dimensional effect, then outline the letters. I messed up a little when outlining but luckily it wasn’t so obvious.

After outlining, I took some color pencils that were the colors in the rainbow so it could be more colorful and bright. After coloring half a letter with the normal color pencils, I realized it was taking too long, so I switched to watercolor pencils. Using the watercolor pencils saved me a lot of time because if I used the normal color pencils I wouldn’t be able to finish it by the end of the class.

I used a wet paint brush to spread around the colors from the watercolor pencils and made the part connecting each letter kind of have a gradient effect. I also accidentally colored a little outside the letters but it still looked pretty good. Then, after coloring the letters, I still had to color the side of the letters. I was rushing so i just took a black watercolor pencil and colored only half the side, then created another gradient effect.

Overall, I think I did quite a good job despite messing up a little and rushing at the end so I could quickly due my work in class and I don’t have to do it at home.

I also saw my friends work, she did a really cool font and all the letters had different patterns. Her artwork was kind of dull as she didn’t put much color in but it still looks pretty cool because of the shapes inside the letters. I think she did quite a great job of drawing out the patterns and the letters.
