iPads replacing MacBooks? (Purposeful Personal Portfolio 6)

After spending so much time talking about school-related topics, let’s switch some gears and talk about a more personal topic.

Switching gears now…

Many people is saying that iPads (especially iPad “PROs”) can replace regular notebooks. Its performance is way better than notebooks and it’s super lightweight that you can carry it around and use it anytime, anywhere. It also supports 3D face recognition to unlock your iPad, the first in a tablet and this never happened for laptops. In addition, with an Apple Pencil paired with your iPad (now even supports the low range model!), Photoshop creations are made even easier and more precise than ever. See it yourself here.

And this

And this.

What? Why are you posting a video of a man breaking a brand new iPad Pro?

That’s right. That is the main con of iPads: a worse durability than laptops. In the video, it’s shown that iPads (new PRO model shown here) can easily break when it is folded. If you want to use your iPad every day in school, you should take extreme care then you do to your laptops if you don’t want it to break when you accidentally sit on it.

Oh no! I need to pay for a new iPad.

Anyways, iPads are far thinner and less heavy than most of the laptops that we see today at stores. The entry-level model is only a little over 1 pound (~470g) and the pro model is just only a little below 1.5 lb (~630g)! Even the lightest Mac notebooks that we have weights like 2 pounds (~920g)!  In addition, it’s more powerful than any other MacBooks that we see or other notebooks from a variety of brands; only the higher-end MacBook Pro can take over the iPad Pro in terms of performance. However, it’s still heavier than the iPad Pro. With an iPad along with an Apple Pencil, you can carry it around, take video and edit them, do Photoshop, or even online CAD without any worries; in addition, you don’t even need to worry about your backpack being overweight. However, you just need a better care to your iPad Pro since it’s super fragile. Otherwise, the iPad Pro can certainly replace your laptop and serve as the perfect solution to your less stressful school life with a much lighter backpack.

Oh, by the way, there’s a keyboard that goes with the iPad Pro with a quieter typing experience. Well, there you got another reason to switch to iPads! Well, I might switch to iPads from MacBooks on a future date so… Try it yourself 😉

I decided not to switch to iPads because even though its performance is more superior than notebooks, its functionality is still limited because it doesn’t run a desktop operating system. It runs iOS, which is more like a magnified iPhone rather than a laptop killer. I will buy the new MacBook Pro instead since it has full functionality and its performance might be a little bit better than the iPad Pro.
