I was under an internship for the computer hardware company Cooler Master where I was tasked with creating a promotional video for one of their products, the MM311 wireless mouse while incorporating artificial intelligence into the video. Not only did this internship give me hands on experience, it also provided me with a professional insight as we were given near full autonomy with all our tasks. Because of this I was involved with almost every step of the process with the exception of editing. This was also my first internship where collaboration is mandatory, yet the team I had were supportive and we were able to cover each other very well despite not being in the same location. I was able to express my creativity and ideas while learning from others on the team.
As I mentioned earlier, full autonomy was granted to us, and this included the usage of artificial intelligence. I learned that AI was not just a tool to improve efficiency, but can be used in a lot of creative ways. The primary way we utilized AI was with image generation, creating a setting that was not available for us, who were limited in the locations we can film with. I also learned how to effectively communicate the product to a foreign audience through capturing interest. The skills that were the most important throughout this process was communication and critical thinking. With the circumstance we were put under, that being 2 of my group members in different countries, communication was a given. Because my main tasks was idea generating and planning, critical thinking came into play as I had to seek innovation to engage my audience. I need to improve my self management skills, as I did miss some deadlines and could not make it to all the meetings.
This internship has helped me grow in better understanding the designing process in a corporate setting. Similar to the last internship I attended, this experience helped me further explore my interest in the field of artificial intelligence. However, this still leaves intrigue on where AI will go from here on out, and I wonder the path that companies such as Cooler Master will take once AI becomes more mainstream and practical.
