After procrastinating for a bit while, I finally finished editing the promotional video. I didn’t follow the storyboard exactly to film the video, nor did I follow the plan exactly to edit the video, which I found really cool because I’m usually more of a detail-oriented than a big picture person. Initially, I planned to include more transitions in the video and make the player’s introduction appear later. However, during the actual filming and editing process, it was hard to achieve the effects I wanted to make for the transitions, so I just ended up deleting some of the clips and shortening the duration of the video. In addition to the change in the video’s duration, I also made some changes to the atmosphere and the layout. Initially, I planned to add some drum beats to create a really mysterious atmosphere to match the “promotion” feels, but it turns out that my teammates aren’t very good at holding their laugh in front of the camera (HAHAHA i’m sorry), so I made the atmosphere of the video more chill instead by changing into more moderate drum beats as the background music. I also added some game films and a polaroid frame at the end to create this time capsule/frozen memory kind of feel. As this project closes up to a finish, I think I wouldn’t call this a “promotional” video anymore. It became more of a reminiscent video for me that made me recap all the good memories I had with this team and my teammates in this special season. Especially with the polaroid frame and the camera shutter sound effect I inserted at the end of the video, I think they really added on to that reminiscent feel.

Finally, this project made me learn so much about myself and also collaboration. I realized that I had been limiting the scope of possibilities all along by attaching this label onto my video that it has to be “promotional” and promotional videos have to have a mysterious atmosphere. I also learned so much about teamwork. Without help and suggestions from my partner, I wouldn’t be able to complete this project and fulfill this wish I’ve always wanted to do. Being a photography and technology girl, Belinda helped me overcome so many technical difficulties I encountered in my process and gave me so much valuable feedback on how to improve the quality of my video. I’m also thankful for the IT Director, the Athletic Director, and my CAS Supervisor for assisting me all along and letting me rent the gym and equipment needed for the completion of the project. Most importantly, sincere thank yous to my teammates and my coach for taking the time to participate and listening to my screams of excitement all along.

Thank you all for making this possible!!!! 😭
