The day when we started this unit about image attributions, to be honest, I don’t even know what this word means. Originally, I thought it’s just another new vocabulary for me and it means nothing else deeper other than the literal meaning; however, I was proved wrong, totally wrong.

Image attributions aren’t just about the citation, but a correct one. Many of you may not understand the difference between two, so let me show you an example. According to Foter Blog, 90% of the images does not include attributions. Moreover, 99% of the images in the rest of these 10% images that are cited are not attributed correctly. But what’s the big deal about not giving image attributions? Well, let me tell you, without a proper attribution, not only that you are discrediting the author of the image, you are also plagiarising and infringing the Copyright policy. In short, as soon as an image is published onto the web, the author of the image immediately owns the copyright of this image. Using the image without attributions could be seen as taking the author’s identity, and serious violations of copyright could lead to penalties. As a conclusion, make sure to use the image fairly but not freely, remember to give images an attribution!

Last but not least, this is a quick view of how an attribution should look like:

(Title) from (Author) via (License)

By the way, please also remember to attach links to the actual picture, the author’s profile, and the platform/website you got it from in order for a complete attribution. 😀

Lastly, take a look at the three images below founded by me and my partner Belinda with correct attributions beneath. (btw, any ARMYs out there!?? 😉 )
