DAY ONE
On the first day (October 8th) of the ACAMIS tournament, both Kaohsiung American School teams played some excellent volleyball. The men’s team won its first game against Beijing City International School in a dominating fashion, but then lost its second in a closely contested match against the team of Nord Anglia International School. Despite this loss, the team’s play can be seen as a sign of good things to come. If it continued this level of play, then our team could easily get into the semi-finals. It would continue the tournament the next day with games against Renaissance College Hong Kong , Yew Chung International School and Shanghai Community International School.

The women’s team ended up losing both of their games, but the players didn’t do so without a fight. Both games against Shanghai Community International School and Nord Anglia International School were hard fought and came down to the wire. On the 9th of October, the very next day, the women played against some easier competition.

DAY TWO
The men’s team went 1-2 on the second day of competition. The players defeated Yew Chung International School in their first game, but then suffered consecutive losses against Renaissance College Hong Kong and Shanghai Community International. Despite the two losses, the Dragons will still make it to the semi-finals, where they will have a chance to bounce back. Our team was going into the semi-finals ranked as the last seed and was destined to play Shanghai Community International School, who was currently undefeated in this tournament.

The women’s team fared much better than that of the men. After losing both games on opening day, it rebounded on day two and – incredibly – won all three of its games against Renaissance College Hong Kong, Beijing City International School, and Yew Chung International School.
DAY THREE
October 10th was the final day of competition for both the men’s and women’s teams, which both did their very best. The women lost their first game against Nordic Angelic International School, which meant that they were in contention for 3rd and 4th place at that point. The men also lost their first game, which was against Shanghai Community International School. That meant that they too were only in contention for 3rd and 4th place.
In the final game, the women won effortlessly against Renaissance College Hong Kong, which was the host team. Despite playing in a hostile crowd, they took two sets to none and secured third place. The men ended up losing to the Nordic Angelic International team in a game that really came down to the last couple of plays. They lost by just two points, 15-13, in the final set to a team that a few days ago seemed unbeatable and to be without a doubt the champions.
Kudos to both teams for giving out such great efforts.
