Monday after school, December the 16th, is the day when my filming officially took place. The IT Director helped me bring the massive camera into the gym, set the camera up for me, and gave me some final cautions regarding its usage, then it’s all on me. I was so nervous and excited as it was my first time directing and filming something, but I knew it would turn out nice. Initially, I tried to obey my storyboard as much as possible, wanting even the tiniest details to follow exactly what’s outlined on it. However, some scenes didn’t work out that well, so I was constantly discovering and innovating new ways as I film. This process felt fresh for me, as I tend to be a more detail-oriented person. Thanks to this experience, I feel like I became a more creative and open-minded person. I hope to continue challenging myself to think outside of the box through acquiring more practical experiences, as I feel like doing things in practice allows us to think on the spot and respond spontaneously to the changing conditions that shape us into more open-minded individuals. On the other hand, one of the seniors on the team also offered to help me film, which I’m very appreciative of. She’s applying for a film study major, and her experiences really made a whole lot of difference in making each clip look more delicate than it could be. Overall, the filming took approximately 30 minutes, which is a bit longer than I thought. I kept feeling very sorry for my teammates for telling them to pose a certain way and move to a certain spot, especially when we have a team Christmas party planned after it. I hope my teammates can understand me 🙁 After all, thanks to Belinda, Alice, Coach, my teammates, and countless others, this filming was definitely a success. I can’t wait to see how the video turns out!

Here’s an unedited clip of a successful take from the day. Our enthusiastic screams at the back really show our excitement and relief huh 😂
