Spirit week is finally around the corner! I’ve always seen it as an opportunity for me to step outside my comfort zone and try new clothing styles without feeling embarrassed! This year, spirit week takes place from 10/28 to 11/1, as outlined in the poster above. I’ve been planning for my outfits for a few weeks already. I put together pieces of clothes that I’ve never worn in my closet to match the theme of the day. I thought of it also as a chance to “unfreeze” those considered “outdated” outfits.

day 1: touristy 👒

I referred to the picture below when planning for my tourist outfit. I think the reason why tourists are always identifiable from the crowd is because of their really extra clothing that doesn’t match with the local people.

Therefore, I initially planned to wear a Hawaiian blouse with some baggy pants, along with a camera hanging at my chest and lastly a bucket hat to finish it off. The classic tourist look in my head. However, I don’t have a Hawaiian blouse in my closet, and I also didn’t want to spend money on purchasing any pieces of clothing for spirit week (because that takes away all the fun and special part of it); therefore, I decided to wear my mom’s sleeveless light-yellow blouse to compromise for the Hawaiian blouse. It is a color that I rarely wear to school, and I thought it would be really cool if I could step out of my clothing comfort zone. And although plain, the blouse is also kind of colorful that matches the whole “tourist” vibe. For the bottom, I chose to pair it with my go-to comfy baggy pants. It’s not too fancy, but I thought the two baggy items would go well together to give off the tourist feel. Now, I wanted a few more elements to complete my touristy look. I don’t want to bring a heavy camera to school just for this event, nor did I want to just use my phone as a camera because I want it a bit more extra (XD); therefore, I brought my disposable camera with me to not only look like a tourist but also being able to actually capture some good memories! To finish it off, I grabbed my bucket hat from last year’s ACAMIS basketball tournament that I used to think as the most useless souvenir… and just wore it to school!
