Today during the practice, our coach focused solely on improving and stabilizing our serving skills; therefore, I gained a significant amount of time to practice my serves. We were instructed to finish 10 rounds of 10 serves each within 1 hour, then recording down the number of balls missed in every round, thus knowing our serving percentage. I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to not only practice my serves but also get to know my current skill level since an actual numerical percentage can be yielded. After finishing up the entire serving drill, my serving percentage was found to be 43%, which means I still have a long way to go until it reaches my goal of serving with an accuracy of 70%. However, throughout the drill, I feel like I gradually got the hang of it. I got the right direction, now I just need more time and practices. I used to toss the ball with my right hand only, and it proved to be really unsteady in both direction and height. With so little time left until the TISSA tournaments, my coach suggested me to toss the ball with two hands in order to ensure greater control over the ball, which turned out to be really effective. After changing my posture to tossing with two hands, the number of balls missed in every round immediately dropped from over 6/10 to only 2/10, which is really thrilling to see! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to record the whole process down because it was an official practice. I hoped I could have captured that moment down on camera too! Anyways, it was a fruitful day and I can’t wait for the next practice.
