Interview with Dr.Farrell

The almighty Dr.Farrell

The almighty Dr.Farrell

Leave your old thinking in the old school,
and bring new thinking to the
new school.

In the beginning of the interview,
the superintendent for
eight-years-running revealed the
goal for the new school-

It’s built for creativity.”

The policies we have here on the new campus, which aim “to meet higher expectations and be more creative,” are  “ideas and  grand concepts, not rigid, inflexible rules.”

The three goals for the new campus are:
“Be Different, Be Eco , Be Healthy.”

  • Dr.Farrell emphasized that the students in KAS are all different, which makes the school the greatest in Asia!
  • Eco- “That’s why we have a plant (in the basement under the elementary courtyard) for the waste to go to.”
  • To be healthyNo one can be healthier than our school! We have natural light, and it’s transparent everywhere.”

In addition, Dr.Farrell notes the unique style of the campus that is found nowhere else:

The education is transparent here, so we built an open school. The style had combined two cultures from Taiwanese cultures and American cultures.

From the excitement in Dr.Farrell’s voice, we can tell that he is really proud of the brand new campus. His dream finally came true, and we are the eyewitnesses.

Mr. Roth

Screen Shot 2015-12-09 at 下午12.18.22Q: Is there any facility you appreciate?

A: I appreciate all of them. Not only the newness, but the design. I like the layout, the modern look, the organization, planning, spaces, I think the spaces in the organization are good. Not only for instructions, but also for students, such as the places to go for studying, places to use technology, places you can be loud, vociferous. And it’s just the right size, not too big, not too small. The last thing I have to say is that the high school and the middle school are so close to each other. They are separated but close enough and feels like a community. You can see people of different ages all day long. For instance, I can see my two young kids all the time which is very nice to be in the same place.

Q: Beside being in the classroom, where do u like to go the most in the school?

A: Umm…. So far I have only been in the classroom. I am joking because I am working so hard right now. But the longer I stay here, the more extra time I can spend in other different places. I like to spend time in different people’s classroom. Also, I like to see people playing sports. I guess the place I go to each week is the library because I like the big, open tables and the light coming through the windows and it’s so quiet. I can go there to grade papers and do work.

Interview with Mr.Oddo About the Bathroom Mystery

Screen Shot 2015-12-09 at 下午6.30.46

Mr.Oddo seems really excited about the new school, “There’s so much more space, and much higher quality of available learning areas.” He specifically pointed out  the classrooms, study rooms in the Media center and the library where students can spend their free time. He firmly believes that it is important for students to have a free and comfortable learning space after school to do homework and projects collaboratively .

The new school is a high quality environment for both teaching and learning.

Mr. Oddo is very satisfied with his own Bio-Lab. “Put aside the new equipment we have now, the room is lighter and more comfortable now. These perfectly carried my wishes. said Mr. Oddo.

Lastly, Mr. Oddo is the nearest neighbor of the 1st floor bathroom, we definitely must ask Oddo about the 1st floor toilet mystery:

There have been some rumors in the school that one of the toilets in the 1st floor bathroom (next to Mr.Oddo’s classroom) collapsed  the first week we moved in……. Unfortunately, Mr. Oddo claimed that he had no idea about this. Thus, we still can’t confirm the mystery.
