Chinese Once Per Week

~This is Why We Should Have Chinese Once Per Week~

Do you think the kids are complaining too much about Chinese class? Are the kids tired and stressed when they come to your classroom? Are kids not even finishing their homework and all you end up doing is yelling at them? I think Chinese teachers aren’t supposed to yell at students, and I think it should be banned. Students in China get yelled at by the teacher in front of the whole class, and then the teacher rips their homework, and makes them redo it. I think Chinese should be once per week, because this is and American school, the homework’s too much, and we could have time for much more important stuff in school.

One reason why we should have Chinese once per week is because of the fact that this is an American school. Kids who have just moved to Taiwan and know only a little Chinese are learning Chinese that is too hard for them. Lots of kids still think that there is a lot of homework; especially kids who have spoke more English than Chinese. For me, as a Canadian, I think it is a lot. In Canada I didn’t even have to do Chinese at school, and I only spoke Chinese I didn’t write much of it. Besides, the only words I learned when I was living in Canada were “big,” “small,” and the numbers.

Another reason is because kids have more homework in Chinese classes than others. Kids stay up late doing homework and that is not healthy. They also have to study for other classes, and sometimes they do not get to study enough, that will make kids do badly in other classes.

Lastly, if we made Chinese be once per week, we could have more time for other subjects. Math for instance, is very important. P.E. is important too. P.E. is important because that makes kids do well in other classes, which means that they will do well in Chinese, too. P.E. can actually be much more important then Chinese, because kids need the exercise so that they are more unlikely to get tired or stressed during classes. If they get tiredness or stress, they wouldn’t do well because they will not be listening much to the teacher.

You might say that this school is in Taiwan, and we should learn Chinese too, but I think Chinese once per week should be enough. Besides, this is an American school. Also it could be said that the Chinese homework is very easy and not too much work, but only two kids in my class think so. You could also argue that we have enough time to finish it at home, but everyone in my class has after school classes. Three kids in my class have more than four after school classes each week.

We should have Chinese once per week. Once that happens, you will not regret it. You will end up with more kids turning in their Chinese homework, which will make you much happier than before, right? Other than the fact that this is an American school, students going to sleeping late, and having time for other activities, there are still tons and tons of more reasons of why we should have Chinese once per week.

  1. I agree with you. If Chinese only happens once a week, students will probably do better in the homework and chances are they will remember to do it since there is more time.
