There’s No such Thing As Digital Citizenship – It’s Simply Citizenship.

INTRODUCTION

What is the first thing you picture in your mind when you hear the phrase “Digital Citizenship”? unerasable digital footprints? Or a completely different behavior? And What is the first thing you picture when you hear the word “Citizenship”? Are these two terms actually different? Actually, no. There’s no such thing as digital citizenship, it’s simply citizenship.

YOu Are You.

We all seem to act “differently” online than we act as a person in real life. WHY? under a “Protection” in this digital world, researchers discovered one of the most common concerns which a lot of people decide to behave differently for —-> ATTENTION <—- on the internet instead of for personal sakes. You can do whatever you want. say whatever you want. if this is the case that represents YOU, then who is the REAL “YOU” since you can do whatever you WANT on the internet which you can’t do, or do not have the courage to do in real life. the internet will be a place where you fully represent yourself as a person.  And you are being the REAL YOU in this VIRTUAL world that doesn’t EXIST, expressing your own thoughts. On the internet your thinking is still your thinking, your behavior is still your behavior, but these different behaviors are just representing you as a person in real life, what it means is that your thinking, is completely represented through your behavior even online. you are you, there’s no difference between you as a digital citizen and you as a real person. they are all considered CITIZENSHIP.

IT’S SIMPLY CITIZENSHIP.

Everything you do is being tracked on the internet, it’s called footprints, just like in real life, you can’t take back what you’ve already said or done. We should be aware of what we do on both internet and real life, it doesn’t mean a fake username and a fake age will provide security protections on the internet, thus it is important to operate your account appropriately and behave respectfully in the online community. By behaving appropriately and respectfully, IT MEANS:

RESPECT OTHERS, RESPECT The COMMUNITY, RESPECT YOURSELF.

    • Treat others THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.  The way you treat people online will be reciprocated just like in real life.
    • Always understand that your online behavior REFLECTS YOU as a person in REAL LIFE.

Online Security and Privacy. Give other people space and privacy. Related image

Respect others means to respect yourself because the way you treat people will be reciprocated, since the burgeoning market of technology and social media,  technologies become more accessible to all the age groups, there are young generations and older generations, we have to support each other as “DIGITAL CITIZENS“. Do not lead the conversation into a conflict, sexual, or even over religious content, these kinds of contents will all affect emotions and thinkings. Or even in a worsened case, your inappropriate behavior will violate the laws.

Finally, it is extremely important to be mindful of what you say something, do something, or post something next time. Always make sure that there’s no offensive, sexual and violent content, because what you said or posted will not be GONE, even if you deleted them, the internet is .

Great post. Even greater if you embed some links in your text to sources to support your ideas
