2020 sep. – steps into zero waste life

Since my products are still on their way, my first step into pursuing a zero plastic life is starting with switching up the containers. It is *almost* a cultural thing in Taiwan to eat night snacks that can, to be honest, constitute as a meal. However, who doesn’t have late-night cravings? After successfully persuading my parents, we bought several steel bento boxes. (Check out my previous post for some research I did!)

鹹酥雞 in steel food container!

If you ever visit or live in Taiwan, it is a must (I might be biased but oh well :)) to visit its night market and try out all the unique snacks (小吃; aka “little eat” in literal translation) that you can find! My personal favorite is 鹹水雞; while there isn’t a direct translation for it, it is basically stemmed/boiled chicken with vegetables that are seasoned with scallions, pepper, etc. Another popular choice is 鹹酥雞, which is deep fried food (ranging from chicken, squid, tofu, and vegetables…almost everything you can think of) seasoned with some *secret* ingredients (I actually do not know but it tastes good) and pepper (+ chili powder if you’d like!) Ok, this is slowly becoming a food blog…the POINT is, it IS possible to live a zero plastic life! After this endeavor, I am planning on continuing and expanding this life style and make an infographic that encourages more people to join this act! Here’s an additional video where we bought 辣脆腸 (kind of similar to the boiled chicken dish but more flavored) with a steel container: IMG_7858.
