Unit Overview
This unit saw the reading of Arthur Miller’s book The Crucible, a story that depicts the events of the Salem Witch Trials in the presentation of a play format. The class did several dramatic reading sessions of the book, going through all four acts with each classmate being assigned a vital role for the summative. In addition, annotations were made on the book through post-it notes and sketch notes, helping us identify the important themes, details, and ideas of the overall story. There were also blog posts and TIEA paragraphs done to demonstrate our understanding of the book, where we practiced three times before doing a summative on both. This unit overall had a lot of emphasis put on truth/lies, morality, beliefs and helped us better understand the world on a deeper level as well as to further extend our communication skills through both public speakings, acting, and writing.
