I have created 2 short films during a month’s stay at New York Film Academy during the summer of 2017. These are my two short films, “Keith and Nicole” (romance comedy short) and “Parasite” (horror sci-fi short).

Parasite synopsis: A group of people attempts to help a man infected by a mutating parasite.

My second short film, Parasite, was loosely based on and inspired by the 2017 sci-fi horror film “Alien: Covenant”, starring Micheal Fassbender, Katherine Waterson, and directed by Ridley Scott. After long discussions with many of my friends, classmates, and staff of New York Film Academy, most of them agreed that we thoroughly enjoyed the film, which created and gave me the idea for the short film. One of my classmates and friend, Evan Rubinstein, has demonstrated more than once of his skill of creating prosthetic makeup with fake blood and liquid latex, so he became an obvious choice as a collaborator for the short film. I have done thorough research on similar films in order to get a different point of views for my short film, such as the original Alien film, John Carpenter’s The Thing, even M. Night Shymalan’s Split. From start I knew I wanted to create an isolated sort of feeling for the film, so during editing, rather than using existing soundtrack, I used a combination of several different sound effects to get the eeriest feeling possible. The film was made from morning to the afternoon, taking up about 5-6 hours of filming in the campus dorms. The short stars Jeane Van Dam, Eduardo Machado, Liselotte Wacher and Max Zinman (the only star in the film that was not part of the acting program unlike Jeane, Eduardo and Liselotte).
