I have created 2 short films during a month’s stay at New York Film Academy during the summer of 2017. These are my two short films, “Keith and Nicole” (romance comedy short) and “Parasite” (horror sci-fi short).
Keith and Nicole synopsis: Keith struggles to gain confidence to talk to his crush, Nicole, sitting across him in the park.
My first short film, Keith and Nicole, was loosely inspired by a fun, youtube comment I saw on a short film, where a girl talked about the first time she noticed a boy who had a crush on her. The boy was startled when the girl noticed him in the library, he accidentally ripped a page out of the book he was reading. Through this concept, I adapted it into a screenplay over the course of 2 days, and planned preproduction details in a short amount of time. I filmed the entire thing during a morning with my classmates from the academy (Lina Lee and Max Zinman, who are both the stars of the film as well.) I operated the camera (a Canon 5D Mk II), shoulder rig, tripod, edited, and directed as well. I edited the film with Premiere Pro, and the credit was done with a quick template made in Photoshop.
