Subject: Individuals and Societies (Year 2)
Start Date: January 2017
End Date: April 2017
Statement of Inquiry: Time, place and space influences the culture and governance of societies.
Criteria Assessed: A and C
Key Concept: Time, place and space

In this unit, I have done many activities, homework, and projects involving with the topic of Medieval Time, from building a Medieval Trebuchet to making a Game Board. We have been focusing on the TCI Textbook from the range of Chapter 1 to Chapter 7, learning all about Medieval Europe, such as The Fall of Rome, the Bubonic Plague, Joan of Arc and more, as the Unit was mainly structured as a Game, which went along well with Criteria A (Knowing and Understanding) as it pushes us even forward on learning in a fun way.
The statement of Inquiry we have learned about (Time, place and space influences the culture and governance of societies) plays a major part in almost everything we learned in this unit, such as how the culture, art and religion of Greek affect the Romans, or how the Roman architecture influences our Present-Day architecture, etc. There are other things that influence our modern society as well, such as Justinian’s Law, which became the foundation of the law we use nowadays.
Some other things that happened in the unit was the Board Game, in which where we all create Board Games related to Medieval Europe. The place and locations of Medieval Europe played a large part in the Board Game for me, as I needed for the game to revolve around traveling around Europe, such as places of Rome (in Italy) or Constantinople. You can see down below of my friends (Luca, Jerry, Seria) playing my board game that shows the locations used in the board, which also played a large on Criteria C (Communications).
Another memorable activity we did was the Stain Glass Window, where we made a thin, transparent like drawing where if you stick it up on the window, it becomes a Stain Glass. We spent time on constructing the type of drawing that pushes us even forward on creating a type of artwork and to learn more about Medieval Time in order to do this project better (which also take parts in Criteria A). You can see the Stain Glass Window below, which is the Medieval Knight one.
