Knowing how to cite the resources that you used on your work is one of the most important things. For example, this post has 3 images located at the bottom of the post, they were examples or citing, it shows where the picture is from, who the author is and what is the citation rights.
People who created their work do not have to allow anyone to use it, however, if they post it online, people will share it everywhere, sometimes people might make a profit on it, which technically is not allowed. However, in some scenarios, people might allow others to earn a profit or use their work but it is always required to be cited. For example, the image with the caption “The ambition to dream” at the bottom of this post, it shows where the image is from, and it also has a link to the author’s page as well as the copying right, the copying right of that image was given by the author and the type was CC BY-ND.

Thinking about what captions to use and when to use them is a good way for people to have a better view of the image, however before anything, citing is important and some authors do not allow the image to be edited, captioned, copied and etc. The images used in this post are all cited and allowed by the author.
In order to give the viewers a better way of viewing the image, you want to relate and expand their thinking. For example, this bear is looking up and a beam of light is shining on the face of this bear. It could be related to dreams and hopes easily, in a dark room, there’s always a bright place that you would want to use as an escape route. And that bear leads itself to the light and looks in the sky. To me, I would relate the thinking to dreaming or hoping for something like it’s making a wish to the God or the sky.
