I compared our school to Magee Secondary School and King George Secondary School. Our school has some changes this year. Usually, our school ends at 3 pm, and now it ends at 3:05 pm. It is not a huge change but I don’t think it’s necessary, from a 15min break to a 20min break.Our school also took out extra credits. Instead of using extra credits, the MYP grading system allows us to go back to our work and redo it again, I think it’s better since we can look back and see how much we’ve improved on the specific task.Academic honesty is similar for most schools, it’s mostly about plagiarizing and doing the work on your own. Not only does your grades go bad, but the amount of effort that was put into the project should be obvious that it’s a plagiarized piece of work. The consequences of plagiarizing are similar as well, for example, the basic one is to redo the work.
To me our school did a good job on reaching out to the people, the rules and description are clear. Our school gives a philosophy of hard working. I think making every topic and concept organized and clear is an important factor of making a good hand book. If a handbook has a way of grouping rules and information, for example, it uses grading system related on a few pages, then it moves on to other sections. Also, there are not really points in the handbooks that stand out to me, I think all rules are important to be followed, even though some rules do seem a bit strange and new. However, over a period of time, we will adapt to the rules and things won’t be as difficult.
