Over the last few years, I’ve been training with a crossfit program where it can ultimately benefit my performances in the sports that I play. And even if it’s just playing sports for fun, it helps with the fundamentals. I’ve always compared myself to my friends who also train quite a lot. Though, they are bulking more than I do. I thought that I would just have to work more to get there because I’ve always been the lighter one in the group. However, now that I’m about the same weight as my friends, I realized I need to transition my training and workouts into bulking.

After doing some research and communicating with my trainer, I’ve decided that I need to perform mass gaining workouts and let my crossfit training be relaxed for a while. Besides eating more, I’ve realized that it has to be allowing the muscles to gain in mass, not just its power, in order to achieve the bulking that I want.

Also, recently I tore my ATL during a soccer team practice. As it healed slowly, I began to appreciate my previous hard work in training more. It shows how much better working out can make a person perform and become less prone to injury. My left ankle was practically turned off for a few weeks, so in order for my left leg to compensate for that loss, my upper calf muscles were used over its limitations. It began to hurt really bad, and after foam rolling every day along with taking a break from hard training, that’s when it healed. And that is also when I realized that I lost some of the single-leg balance I trained very hard for in the past while. My trainer used to make me do a lot of split squats, or single leg stabilization workouts to enhance agility and speed, etc. After the injury is when I realized how important that actually was because for the first time I felt so abnormal when performing in sports.
