During this summer break, I’ve discovered a new hobby, poker. I learned how to play it when I was young, but never got into it like I did now. I started playing it with friends, it wasn’t for gambling, but a friendly card game that was very relaxing to play during our vacation time. I began to research things like how poker became the game that it is today, as well as how it holds up the money department and how everyone can play it. I found this player Daniel Negreanu and found out how inspiring he was. He has an interesting back story of striving in the things that he likes to do, then taking a big risk to become a pro poker player. Not just any pro poker player, but the highest award winnings, up to 50million USD. That gave me lots of motivation to learn how to improve in this game and know more about it so it becomes more fun and meaningful to play.
I started to learn very advanced things in poker such as ranges, hand strategies as well as how to intake information from players around the table. Ultimately, it led to being one of the things that I’ve spent a big amount of time on during my summer break. Whenever I’m with my friends and family, we’d play poker. I began to bring it to all my friends, and not just friends who live here, but all around the world. We’d play online as well, just to all learn the game together. I thought it was really fun to connect everyone together with this new activity.
Another CAS activity this summer is working out. I’ve been working out for a long time already, however, there were ups and downs and this summer my goal was to bulk up. I wanted to surpass my previous peak of muscle mass and all the other fun stats of working out. However, this did not go very well. I did not miss a day to the gym this summer, besides the days that I had to travel or do some medical procedures. Other than that, I was on track to my goal. But I’m nowhere near the results that I wanted to see because I haven’t been eating right. I thought I was eating enough, but not quite. The amount of energy I’ve been spending this summer is way more than the amount I was taking in. So naturally, my body wasn’t able to bulk up like I wanted to. And that being said, I began to drink protein and other supplements to boost my results. It helps out drastically, I’m now feeling good and back on track. Because it felt like all my previous work and dedication this summer was wasted. However, being back on track feels refreshing, and I hope I can keep this up. I’m about 180cm tall, aiming to become 185cm and 70kg or more. That means I’ll have to work harder to gain mass as I’ve been spiralling around the 66-70kg range.
