For this month’s CAS I wanted to revisit the hockey practices I’ve done. I’ve been playing recently and practicing with a partner. I wanted to take this opportunity to improve my stick handling and not lose the puck or roller hockey ball. This means I have to practice stickhandling the puck with my head up. Also, stickhandling everywhere that I could reach with the puck, to my side and behind me. Ultimately, I want to be able to deke around obstacles like an opponent without looking down constantly.

In addition to just stick handling, during practices, I focused on passing to my partner after switching direction or dangling around an obstacle without looking down. I’ve used both the rollerball and hockey puck. But in my case, without ice, I use a special puck designed for off-ice situations, “a green biscuit”.

Here I’ve found some well-known hockey coaches or campaigns that give tips on stickhandling. These sites are old but useful. http://howtohockey.com/how-to-stickhandle/ https://www.prodigy-hockey.com/stick-handling/keys-to-improving-stick-handling/
