Honesty is the First Chapter is the Book of Wisdom—Thomas Jefferson

My partner and I decided to make a video about defining Academic Honesty because this is the first thing that came to our mind about this website unit. Our first idea was to ask our peers what one word they would use to describe Academic Honesty. We thought of that we can let our peers to define it instead of us just telling them our definition. It turned out that some of their answers were not included in our original definition. I think that there are always interesting views to learn from other people because different people look at things in various perspectives.

Moreover, we chose some examples that is easy to relate to our audience, especially our peers in academic environment. For instance, it is taking a risk to copy and paste when doing a research paper. By contrast, citing resources when using an online photo is a wiser choice.

We also want to bring awareness that there may be pros and cons of being dishonest. You might get a good grade by doing 3 seconds of work, but you have more risks of being caught and getting discredited. However, I hope this video gives you an idea of what academic honesty is and what would be wise to do when you are online.
