GRASP Project Reflection

My contributions to the success of my group’s lesson presentation were helping out the experiment by measuring the data, creating slides and presenting slides. During the experiments, I helped to measure the distance of the threads that went inside the wooden box. For the presentation, I was researching how the screw can be useful in our lives and the examples of how they work. I was responsible for presenting the background information slide and the Screw in daily life examples slide.

The challenging part of this project was to create the data table and graph in Google Sheets. We were not able to figure out how to insert out data into graphs in Google sheets because it showed up very strangely when we copy the table and numbers onto in. The x-axis and y-axis were looking very confusing and the trendlines of each trail were not looking like the way we wanted. However, everyone in our group tried different methods to create clear and understandable tables and charts. We revise the axises and selected trials and create our graphs successfully.

Although the screw is not one of the most interesting topics for me, I still enjoyed this project and working with my group member. The research question is the part I am most proud of, I think we had a very good aiming goal. We were having issues with the design of our methods and I think the research question was the one guiding us to stay on track and follow an effective plan.

After the end of this project, the parts of the experience that I will remember were the various usage of the screw in our daily life and how screw work to be a simple machine. I learned much useful information about the 6 simple machines throughout the project. I think those ideas are the ones will stay with me for more future learning.
