In this unit of Equity and Advocacy, we learned how equity and empathy require connection and to advocate for others.
This is the Media PSA(public service announcement) I’ve created to promote the idea of women’s rights. We used the medias Powtoon and Youtube through this assignment. It announced the equity of Women’s rights, every person should be treated fairly no matter their gender, skin color, and class.
This is the TIEA for the book—––Uprising, which we read in the previous weeks. Uprising expresses the idea of equity through the immigrant workers in the factories and the fire that actually happened in the history of U.S. The TIEA paragraph shows how the story connects with the goal of the unit.
In the book Uprising, Margaret Peterson Haddix demonstrates the theme of equity in Jane’s justice for the female immigrant workers. Jane asked Miss Milhouse to apologize for her offensive to Bella and Yetta because of her impoliteness words about their social class. “Miss Milhouse! You must apologize this instant! Yetta is my guest! I invited her into my house!” (p.160) Miss Milhouse displays an example of the strong stereotype in the U.S. during that time of period. Jane is one of the females who’s also being caged in her dad’s richness. When Miss Milhouse spells the words of rudeness to Bella and Yetta. This inspired Jane wants to stand up for them because she is also being treated the same way and she thinks this is not a right thing. Jane’s justice stands up for Bella and Yetta but also for herself.
