Academic Honesty

Copying is not a honest way to do homework or getting good grades. It’s also totally disrespecting your school’s policy. If you want to cheat, why don’t you just quit schoo. You aren’t being honest of your grades. You’re Not only being dishonest to your school and teacher, but also not being respectful to your peers. Your peers did their work and you didn’t. Why is it fair that you get a good grade and your peers don’t, when you just slack out and do nothing? Copying also means that you are cheating yourself. You’re cheating yourself, because when you cheat, you do not know the point of the work, and you also won’t get any practice on the particular section.

According to the KAS and MIT academic honesty policy, you’re not allowed to copy other people’s work, fabricate, cheat, and plagiarize. In those schools, you will be punished with getting a lower grade or probably being suspended by school. For the KAS academic policy, “Is it appropriate to seek outside sources for this assignment?” . You should always thing before you go and find outside sources. Is it appropriate? Does it counts as cheating? You’re not only disrespecting your peers, you’re also losing your trust from your teachers as well. So the next time you hand in a test or a homework, your teachers might think that you might be cheating and give you a bad grade. Trust is a hard thing to earn back. It could be a long lasting effect that can affect you negatively in college or even in the society. Also, from Piedmont high school, “Achieve the Honorable,” means that people in the high school behaves in integrity and honesty. Honesty supports your learning and gives everyone a fair learning environment.

I agree with the academic policies, because it would really benefit the student and it would not give the cheating students an advantage. It will teach the students that are cheating what’s right and what’s wrong to do. Giving the student bad grades for cheating is not a question. Academic honesty is also very important, because it gives people the same advantage as everyone else.

Some reasons of why students chooses to be dishonest of their grades, because they are under pressure by their parents. Some parents expects their child to have a grade of A or better. The student is under stress and the easiest way to get their grades is to cheat. Another reason of why students chooses to be dishonest of their grades, because they are just lazy. Lazy people should just deserve a F if they cheat. It’s not that they don’t have the ability to do the homework, but they are just slacking off.
