Star Limerick

TIEA:

The poems often tells a story in the poems. They express their meanings in different ways. In an Open Grave, it says “I gave the King, and only him, dominion over death”. It is saying that they are going to sacrifice their lives for their king. Another example is that “Our hearts shall be brave”. It is saying that they won’t feel bad if they die on the battlefield. Throughout this poem, it is saying that when the enemy comes, they will be brave. They are borned for the battle, and they won’t feel bad that they are about to die. They also said that they will sacrifice their lives for their king. The last line is that they will be forgiven and goes on to a new life after they die.  For this poem, the basic idea is that the soldiers is about to defend their country, and they won’t be scared for dying for the king. They will also continue their life to another place after they die. I think this poem did a good job on telling a story, because it uses thoughtful words and made us picture if it really happened. In the poem for Star, it talks about a star wanting to go everywhere, but when the star fell, she found out that it is impossible to travel everywhere. I think for this poem, it is right that not everyone can go everywhere. The star thought she could go everywhere, but when she failed or fall, she found out that the universe is too big to go everywhere. The star also embarrassed her self because it said that she felled like a clown. I’m picturing that someone is trying to do something, but when they failed and embarrassed themselves, they know that some things are just not for them to do. For the poem The patron saint., the story is that in the nature, the animals do regular things. For example, the worm digs into a chestnut. And a frog is jumping in that has a sound of water splashing. This haiku poem is very simple, just saying what different animals do what. I think the author uses two kinds of subjects that is very similar and wrote it into a poem. After I read all the poems, I found out that every poem has a story in their poem. The story can be short and it can also have a meaningful way.

My hope feels like getting a good grade on my exam

My hope tastes like the candy that my friends give

My hope looks like a place wide house that welcomes you

My hope smells like a sweet scent of chocolate ready to be eaten

My hope sounds like the voice of a family that is having a conversation

My hope is my house that I’m grateful to have
