This month, our theme is transportation. We decided to pick a theme that is not related to the holiday of the month because we couldn’t think of another September holiday and we did teacher’s day last time which one kind of boring. In this monthly event, we use the same technique as before: teach vocabularies first, ask questions and give out rewards, separate kids into groups to play station games.

Vocabulary teaching
I realized that though we’ve been teaching them for over a year, they forget the vocabularies. Plus when I ask them their opinions on station systems, they said its fun but the games are too challenging. We need to find a solution that will help them remember the vocabularies, or at least have the incentive to try to remember.
Tic tac toe
The kids really enjoyed this game. The competition between teams drove them to work together and learn the vocabularies. One problem is that it still got a little chaotic because the some kids still ran around instead of lining up as they should. I think these kind of out door games are doable. We just need more helpers there to make sure the kids follow the rules.
Draw and remember game
This game didn’t turn out as our ideal plan. We originally thought the kids will feel what was drawn on their back, and replicate the picture on the person in front of them. But it turns out that they can’t really feel anything, and it is really easy for them to cheat because they would just turn around and see what the person behind them was drawing. The good part about this game is that it is calmer so there was less chaotic energy.
