Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively use words of despair. Words have energy the power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, or to humiliate.
We sometimes are compelled to give voice to any passing feeling, thoughts or impressions we have; randomly dump the contents in our minds without regarding the significance of the impact of the words we utter. When we speak, we should be mindful, in a way to solidify peace and compassion in our characters. Not only do our words matter, but also the tone which we use has a huge effect.
In face-to-face conversation, we can at least presume the person’s thoughts or emotions from their facial expressions or the way one carries out the words. For instance, when someone is mocking you, the person will speak in a derisive tone, with a cruel fake smile or a smirk. However, online, we can’t possibly know what the other person is really feeling since we can’t see each other’s face. We may be feeling depressed, but type something totally opposite to mask our real feelings.
The video Belinda and I made, demonstrated the impact of words online. The hooded person’s intention was to inform the girl she should switch up her tactics. However, the way she approaches makes her words sound very mean (with venom). Online, due to the fact that we can’t interpret the word’s tone, usually take every word seriously. Therefore, the use of words online makes it more essential than face-to-face conversation.
