Ready for the Kickoff

On April 17, 2018 the Athletic Council will be hosting the annual pep-rally for our very own KAS ACAMIS Soccer team. Following tradition, the event will be hosted at the rainbow-staircase where all the faculty and student can come and cheer for our players before they head off to the ACAMIS soccer tournament in Shanghai Pudong, China on April 18, 2018.
This is a special year as there are many new faces in and around the team. Last years boys team was coached by Mr. Oddo, who was with the program from 2012 until his departure at the end of last year. The teams roster has changed much as well as previously the program was lead by veteran players like Anderson Kuo, Kevin Lin, and Joshua Sun. But as they’ve graduated and as Mr. Oddo has moved to Peru, we’ve been left with a much different roster this year with it mainly being comprised of first or second year players as well as a new first year coach, Coach Victor Liang.
The girls’s team was able to retain a majority of their players from last year, however some returning seniors have decided to opt out of the ACAMIS tournament in light of the upcoming IB exams.Seniors Branda Su (Senior) and Miki Takemae (Senior) will not be traveling with the team to Shanghai, however they will be playing in the TISSA Varsity tournament held next week.
Selected player for the boy’s team: Lucas Ho (Senior), Ethan Lo (Senior), Nico Tsai (Senior), Victor Hsiao (Junior), Derek Huang (Junior), Ethan Chao (Junior), Ronald Kuo (Junior), Steven Liao (Sophmore), Ryan Lin (Sophomore), Elliot Lo (Sophomore), Jason Lee (Freshman), Jason Hsu (Freshman), and Louis Dignac (Freshman). Sadly, Kuo and Dignac will not be able to travel with the team as Kuo suffered a bone fracture in his left arm during the practice and Dignac has cited personal affairs.
Selected player for the girl’s team: Shelly Sun (Junior), Stella Fournier (Junior), Kelly Chen (Junior), Nanako Miyamoto (Junior), Tiffany Yu (Junior), Alice Wang (Sophomore), Jasmine Li (Sophomore), Sammi Lo (Sophomore), Claire Williamson (Freshman), Ivy Kuo (Freshman), Annie Lin (Freshman), and Alisa Keisker (Freshman).
The tournament will start on April 19, 2018 in Nord Anglia International School (NAIS). Stay tuned with Athletic Council and for an email from Athletic Director, Mr. Yannakakis, as the outcome of the tournament and livestream information will be provided.
