This years boys team will feature six senior, two junior, and two freshman. Last year the boys team finished the tournament with a solid third place finish. However this year they are looking to do much do then that. They seek to compete in the final and ultimately claim the trophy with their revamped roster.

Selected for the 2017 Acamis Volleyball Boys Team are: Allen Chen (Senior), Hong-Bing Tan (Senior), Jason Liu (Senior), Migo Lai (Senior), Ricky Yang (Senior), Steven Chu (Senior), Ching-Duan Chiu (Junior), David Lin (Junior), Henry Sha (Freshman), and Howard Chen (Freshman).

“Our coach, Ms. Stella, has been coaching me for the past 2 years. She pushes me a lot and has a lot of expectations for this year’s volleyball season because we still haven’t gotten a champion trophy yet. I feel really stressful about being a captain, because I’m graduating soon, and I expect myself to win a champion trophy for KAS. A champion trophy isn’t only my personal goal, but also the whole team’s target. I hope our team can win at least 3rd place in ACAMIS and get 1st place in Varsity. As a veteran of the team, my role is not only just to participate the games as other players; instead, I have to control the game and help the team to become a better team.” said team captain Ricky Yang.

This year the girls team feature four senior, three junior, two sophomore, and one freshman. Last year the girls team dominated the tournament and reached the final. But sadly they are only able to finished with second place. With the graduation of last year seniors we are able to see some new faces on the team. This year the team is looking to go back to the final and reclaim the trophy that was taken from them last year.

Selected for the 2017 Acamis Volleyball Girls Team were: Amity Huang (Senior), Betty Fan (Senior), Jessica Kuo (Senior), Vanessa Hsu (Senior), Kathleen Chen (Junior), Miranda Lu (Junior), Tiffany Yu (Junior), Alice Wang (Sophomore), Sammi Lo (Sophomore), and Ivy Kuo (Freshman).

“As to the final year and final season of my volleyball career in high school, I am deeply honored to take the leadership role as a captain of the team. As a captain, I need to be a leader for my teammates both on and off the court. What makes this year special is that most of our members are new to the team. Therefore, we all start from the same level, we practice and improve together as a team. As I mentioned, this is a completely brand new team. I am not looking for any place, but I do hope that the team can understand the importance of teamwork and remember to communicate on the court. Most importantly, I hope they can always be positive and cheer for each other at all time. In fact, losing a game doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. It is simply a chance to improve yourself, every failure lets you discover your strengths and weaknesses. From that, it offers you an opportunity to work on them. So, I do hope the best for my team as I am excited to see how they will play in the tournament. Having been on the team for four years now, I would say I am the most experienced player on the team. I believe that I am well aware of the flow throughout the tournament. This can ultimately help me to give them pep talks before and during games. This can motivate the team to success as well as help them out of a troubled frame of mind. No matter how contentious the game, I will always cheer for them and support them.” said girls team captain Amity Huang.

“The team is very different this year, because most of the players were graduated. It’s kind of reset the whole team and start from the fundamental again. They are trying hard to achieve their personal goal and work as a team. I think they got together better as a team. MOVE!” said Acamis Girls Team coach Ms. Chen.

“I think that this year’s captain has an important role for the team. He familiar with my coaching style and knows my expectation for the team. Also, we are having two ninth-grade players, and they are doing super well. My players are willing to learn some new things because they have good attitudes. They also have high achievements when they decide to do things.

Such as, when we have extra practice days, everyone will try to attend all the extra practices because it is their decisions. I’m most proud of our defense development, because we have an awesome libero in the back row and he helps the team’s defense become strong. If I can say one word to my team it would be teamwork, because it will be a key point for our tournament this year.” said Acamis Boys Team coach Ms. Stella.
