My inspirational poem: Basketball

What is basketball

is teamwork

is not for ballhogs

is where you triumph

is where you never quit

is played with your heart

is how competitive you are

is not about laziness

is about the will to win

is about mentality of making a hundred shots

If you want to win one game go alone

if you want to win the crown, go together

its like a achievement

its like a glow of competitiveness

its like a inferno of winning

the ball finds its way to the rim and goes in

sometimes it just dont like you enough to help

the more angry you get the less chance it helps

getting it to help you is a skill to be mastered yet

each game takes on its personality

swish and splashes

booing and cheering

clapping and shouting

the mark of success is not alone

the mark of success is teamwork

You gotta earn success by yourself.

but you gotta earn it with teamwork

Thats basketball

Where friendship enhances

Where you learn about life and brotherhoods

Where Hard work and toughness happens

Where Amazing happens

My Hope poems:

My hope feels like the sunlight shining down on your a barren icy cold land, a brighter day

My hope tastes like the sweetness of water inside the arid mouth

My hope looked like the mass ocean, the scene of unbound possibilities

My hope smells like the luscious scent of sashimi after an entire day of hard work

My hope sounds like the people cheering and clapping their hands on your work ethic

My hope is to keep pushing yourself when you reached your limit, DIG DEEP!!!

TIEA

To write a good poem, such as being inspirational and empowering poems,  authors often times uses a lot of poetic devices to make a good poem and to relate to themselves.

In the Free verse poem You will never see me fail, it talks about how the author will not give up.It shows a strong idea of the author’s determination to survive. For examples, some of the hyperboles and rhythm even include extreme circumstances of “death”, and this already shows how hard and determined the author is to achieve something. The author is not in a fear of death to accomplish something. Other phrase includes “time gets hard, people struggle, but you will never see me fail”. Which tells you he will not accept failure and will survive the most trying times.

In the Limerick poem Time, it talks about how the author thinks about time, alike what normally people thinks of time that never waits. It shows the author’s opinion about time. For examples, some of the hyperboles inside contains strong languages such as “There is little of time we receive, and it will never grant a reprieve” and “you will never have time up your sleeve” which already told you that time won’t be your asset, nobody has it as a useful tool. It is not helpful, nor will it ever be enough for you to use. Time is nobody’s friend, so dont expect it to help you.

In the romantic poem to—  it talks about how the author felt about this woman that he loved and the how things changed after she left. The author uses a strong emotion of sadness(after she left) and happiness(while she’s with him) about the woman. For examples, some of the similies and hyperboles such as “like a translent vision” and ”I remember the marvellous moments” already show how deeply in love the author is, so in love it already inspired him to become even better person as part of life.As love is part of life, it already showed that love can sometimes help a person become better, as your willing to improve to get your love ones and even dream about him/her everyday when she is with you.

Of all of these poems, I think what they all relate is the fact that they share same poetic devices, such as hyperboles, because you can’t grab time, you don’t need to die, and really, dreaming of your loved one everyday is a bit too over. Even though they are exaggerating, it already showed the effort putted into writing this poem. They all did it with their hearts and gut feelings and eached showed a lot of their concerns, feelings, and emotions throughout the entire poetry writing.

Poem one tells the author’s determination to adapt and survive in harsh conditions. Poem 2 talks about how time will never be enough to become useful. Poem three talks about how loved ones matter so much to them, now that they didn’t meet anymore, is slowly fading, but when they do meet, thats where the real love power comes in.

For poem 1, the author showed his/her determination by using “death” inside the poem which already is kind of bringing it to the extreme. It already involved using hyperboles to show the strong emotion related to a tough life of the author, and what the author would do to survive, kind of like an survival game.

For poem 2, the author uses personification also, as if time is an object, an object that doesn’t help, and is never enough, and is something you cannot “reprieve”. Time, as an object, has no feelings and is not gonna help anyone or slow down, and the time gone is gone forever.

For poem three, the author uses both hyperboles, similes, and some personifications, by telling readers how much difference it makes when the loved one is around, and when time passes, how much it would change the author, using hyperbole, and similes, as an exaggeration, and personification for telling how painful it is without the loved one as the “day drags on”.

A1

identify and explain the content, context, language, structure, technique and style of text(s) and the relationships among texts

In poem one, the author uses hyperbole to show the strong language/emotion of the author’s mentality to survive. Perhaps its because the author is having a tough life, but he still lives on and is very determined about surviving harsh conditions of living. The author is going to think positive and live out the best he can be, even though its tough. By expressing it with strong languages such as death, fail, struggle, cry, it already showed how tough life is and it can beat you to the ground, but its how you get back up that defines the will to live.

In poem two, the author uses personifications as the author described time as an object, an object that doesn’t care about nobody and will never stop for anyone, so dont expect it to help in times of struggle. Inside the poem, the phrase says “you will never have time up in your sleeve”, this means time will never stop for you to capture it and it will keep moving forward and will never ever stop. The first phrase “there is a little time we receive” also states the author’s opinion about time, and how less time there is to be used.  This poem shows the opinion of the author as the he thinks that theres never enough time.

In poem three, the author uses a variety of poetic devices as the author uses hyperboles, personifications, similies, and metaphors.  The author includes hyperbole, to exaggerate his love for the woman and its been a long time since they met again, phrases such as “Lost in hopeless sadness, lost in the loud world’s turmoil,I heard your voice’s echo, and often dreamed your features”, this shows the serious difference between time spent with the lady, and time without the lady. While they were together, the author used similies and metaphors to describe the awesome feeling he has when they were together, phrases such as “like a transient vision, like pure beauty’s spirit”. A little amount of personifications was used to describe the days left without the woman, such as the phrase “day drags on”.

A4:interpret similarities and differences in features within and between genres and texts.

Similarities:

Of all the poems, I think all of their similarity is clearly, feelings, emotions, and their effort on making good poems. The feelings they added in can be felt even by readers as that is what a good poem is about the feelings and emotions the authors added inside the poems. It shows how much effort the authors add in to the poems.

Similies, hyperboles, personifications and other poetic devices has been added inside the poem to make the poems more interesting to public. These feelings would really inspire readers as they are teaching a moral lesson about what the author has been through.

For examples, love, never quitting attitude, and never waste time. Which inspires people to work hard on achieving things, such as getting your loved one, never qutting even though theres a long bumpy road ahead, and never waste any second of it trying to get to your destination as time doesn’t wait.  It all teaches a moral lesson to readers, whether the genre of the poems are different, there is always a lessons to be learned from reading these inspirational and empowering poems.

Differences:

The difference I believe in the poems is that they are all different genres, even though they all teach a moral lesson about what the author has been through, the genre of it is still different. For example, Poem 1 is a free verse poem. Poem 2 is a limerick poem, while poem 3 is a romantic poem. Even though they are all inspirational, the way they use the poetic device is still very different.

Some used more poetic device, such as poem 3 that used about 3 poetic devices. Poem 2 used only 1 poetic device, while poem 1 used about 2 poetic device. The amount of poetic device used affects how the poem will look from reader’s perspective. The more used, the more emotional it gets, and romantic poem fits right in that category of emotional because love is a emotional thing to talk about.

The lengths of the poem, also affected by the genre, is also different, limerick poems will sometimes be shorter than other types of poems. For example, Poem 2 is significantly shorter than any other poems above, significantly shorter than poem 1 and 3 as the other two are free verse and romantic poems.
