4 reasons why Daisy is not worthy

Many people, after reading “The Great Gatsby”, would find that Daisy is simply not worth it for both Tom and for Jay Gatsby’s sake. And, in this blog post, I will be listing out the top 5 reasons why you should not be dating Daisy and why she is not worth the price level that Gatsby paid for. Love is a complicated thing, but sometimes it takes only common sense. Let us jump right in to see our reasons!

Number 4:  She has exposed herself as a careless woman

I don’t know about you reader, but the impression Daisy gave me with regards to everything in that book, says enough of her. She is completely careless, like it or not.  Especially how she just went back to Tom and acted like nothing happened after she caused the death of Myrtle and then eventually Gatsby himself… This speaks a lot about her integrity as a female, do you want this type of girl in your life? To get you in trouble with carelessness and then bounce to another male partner after that?

As Nick would say: “Tom and Daisy – they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together and let other people clean up the mess they had made” (Fitzgerald179).  Both Tom and Daisy were careless, but I think Daisy was the key because she got back to Gatsby, and then jumped ship to Tom again and back and forth. And because she couldn’t pick a side, Tom made sure to screw over Gatsby and got him killed by telling George Wilson that Gatsby killed Myrtle, which correlates to my second point.

Number 3: She is a indecisive woman

I mean would you want a indecisive woman in your life? She couldn’t even make her own decision for god’s sake, she gets stuck so often between Gatsby and Tom that in my opinion, if she left Tom or Gatsby, the entire plot would’ve  been different. And yet, she can’t make up her mind as to who to love. Let me get this straight, Gatsby is craving for you, and Tom is betraying you, and you still want both…. I mean what in the world is wrong with you. “It’s so hot, and everything’s so confused” ( Fitzgerald 106), for god’s sake, if you left Tom and just went with Gatsby you still could have money and power, and you don’t even have to be treated unfairly. And for worse, you got Gatsby killed and chose to live with a man who cheated on you before!!

Number 2: She can get her lover into a lot of trouble!

I’m sorry, I was over my head. It’s just, I personally felt like the whole problem of this story was her. Like most TV shows showing two males vying for one female,  in this story there was no happy ending. Angelina Jolie once said “happy ending are for stories that haven’t ended”, I’m sure this story was a testament to that.

Well, Gatsby died, and it sure isn’t just Tom’s fault. I mean sure he might have manipulated George into killing Gatsby, but the two things before that is: Daisy being indecisive on Gatsby or Tom, and that Daisy eventually caused the death of Myrtle that triggered this chaotic aftermath.

Needless to say, I believe Daisy resides with the “they’re a rotten crowd” (Fitzgerald 154) comment Nick was referencing to. Trouble makers, and having others clean up the messes for them.

Number 1: She values gold over true love (gold digger reference)

I would never, ever, value materialistic wealth over the integrity of a person. And, in this story, Daisy continuously makes the less beneficial decision by joining Tom instead of Gatsby. Even then, in this story Gatsby is not even a poor vs rich comparison, they’re both wealthy!

You know why I called Daisy a gold digger? It’s because of this quote right here: “She never loved you, do you hear? She only married you because I was poor and she was tired of waiting for me. It was a terrible mistake, but in her heart she never loved any one except me” (Fitzgerald 130).  So, Daisy already proved herself to value money over loyalty, by choosing Tom rather than staying put for Gatsby to come back from the war and to get rich. I guess that says a lot about a female’s integrity doesn’t it? Shouldn’t need me to tell you that in order to reduce harm to yourself the best way is to stay away from females like Daisy!

And that about sums up my 4 reasons justifying why Daisy is not worth anyone’s time! I hate Daisy if you want my personal opinion. If Daisy and Tom are so rotten that it make Nick betrays his own principled of “inclined to reserve all judgement”, I think it speaks volume on why you should never be associated with them.
