To be honest. Criteria C has been one of my worse criteria compared from all 4 of them. I had a lot of dilemma in mastering this criteria. However, I’m just going to use some examples to prove that I have shown improvement over the course of the semester. Some evidences may not be in English class, but my inner voice tells me that I’ve understand this criteria better than I ever did since I first encountered it.
Evidence 1: Music class commentary on performances.
So before in my vocal music class, whenever we have a performance or duet projects to sing/ perform, I always ran into trouble producing good comments. It’s not just going into analysis (sure some part of it like articulation and pitch), it’s more about converting what you see and hear into what you want to compliment and say for improvement. In the first semester I honestly didn’t know how to compliment, so I literally just said “good pitch” or “sing accurately”. Of course, Ms.Hsu being Ms.Hsu would appreciate those answers but I thought I could do better. Now, these past few days we held another singing projects of using different styles. I can now say this by producing more accurate terminology. Below are two examples:
We used a document to comment on positive (red) and improvements (blue). I think this definitely showed that I understand more about producing text and giving good terminologies than I ever did before.
Evidence two: An vignette I’ve written for criteria C’s extra credit
As I’ve said before. It’s really to find something in Ms.Barrow’s class to talk about improvements in this criterion because it’s not that I didn’t think I’ve improved, but it’s just none of them seemed to offer much support to evidence in showing improvements (sucky grade is part of the reason too). However, I do think this extra credit play can portray my improvements in criteria C.
If I was asked to do something like this in the first semester, I would’ve given up. I think I’ve improved a lot on Criteria C. I had a lot of trouble doing something similar to this in the first semester already. However, thanks to the advices of Ms.Barrow, classmates, and friends, I was able to somewhat do better on this criterion. This is just like a play similar to the original one performed by one the teams in drama class. Note that I would’ve failed this in the first semester due to lack of experience dealing with this. Through the failures and advices, I’ve came back to produce somewhat a decent play that suits the requirement well… I wouldn’t have been able to imagine writing a play like this in the first quarter, let alone this vignette.
