In these two week I can sum it up with a sentence: Week 1 is boring as heck, week 2 is where the fun and real challenge came.
Week one, because of my preparation for a “pleasant/daring surprise model construction” I choose to build a red cloth, also representing Chinese New Year that will come next month. Now, of course like I said, week 2 is much more fun and challenging as I challenged myself to be a risk taker and try to build a model Spitfire plane, the results are pretty incredible.
this is the red cloth I built for week 1,

This is SURPRISEEEE!!! I have successfully built a scale modeled Spitfire fighter plane back in the 1940s version. I can’t say I’m pro, but I do believe I am the only person in the world to ever try building plane model with clays. I guarantee you, the material is much stronger than plastic.
I am so happy that I pulled this job off. This is by far the most difficult one that I have tried to built. I am planning to add paint jobs on it soon, so expect some more of this description in the next report!!!
You know what is the most annoying thing is? Well, easy to say, its the plane’s wing, it kept falling down because the glue can’t sustain the weight of it. No matter, I added so much glue in it that it took about an hour or so to dry completely. Yet, it still falls. I was very frustrated and decided that its not gonna work with just glues, you gotta need strong glues. So I added 3 second dry glue (a heck a lot of them, used half of them) in it and problem solved. However, it still slants a little bit no matter how much I add into it. I guess its the nature of clay.
Next week I plan to do even more daring plan, to construct a model aircraft carrier of USS Nimitz. Its gonna be tough, but I hope its gonna be fun, its my passion and nothings gonna stop me from building it :). Another problem I’m facing though is clay shortage, I might have to be more conserving next time and not use too much or I’ll run out pretty soon.
WWII background: Spitfire is the most agile/powerful aircraft during the war against the Axis. With 500 of them only in 1940, stopped an determined assault of German Luftwaffe consisting over 3000 planes sending against them. Using the maneuverability and advanced radar warning system developed by the British intelligence service, they know exactly where Nazis are attacking their cities and can position themselves in a better position to strike those German me-109 escorts easily and shoot down those bombers without having much difficulty. However, the battle did resulted massive loss on both side, Hitler’s air force lost 2000 amongst those 3000 send against the British, and the Royal air force lost about 250 planes after sacrificing firepower and some armour protection for better speed and maneuverability. This is the plane that really hurt Hitler’s army big time.
