Our product was a video comparing a well-filmed commercial and reality. We showed some manipulations of camera angles that a commercial might use and a series of propaganda that changed people’s perspectives. In addition, we explained stereotypic statements, the effects of biases on the audience, and the purpose of doing them after our DIY commercial. So, basically our products, including Linus and me, is a comparison of commercials and reality.

Linus and I made the video together, and we kind of split the work equally. I drew the CH Pad, which was a white-screen pad being used everywhere and the professional commercial video. In addition, I did some explanations of the effects of biases. Linus did the reality clip, explanation of the effects of biases, video adjustment, and animation.

 

 

 

 

Hello everyone, good news for all of you! I am done with my research of stock market and an investment video is coming up in Chinese New Year Break! That means everyone will possibly watch my video in Chinese Break!

With more and more knowledge from doing economic research, I have known introductory economy to profound interpretation. In these two weeks, apparently, a lot of work has been accomplished, including identification of a decline or rally, as well as determining a swing high and swing low. They are all explained in the same document that includes consecutive research from basic to advanced.

Basically, I learned that my love of economy is not likely to change. A lot of people might think that economy is boring since a lot of terminologies need to be memorized, but in my personal opinion, all economic challenges are an exploration of profits, possibility of wealth, and infinity of patterns. I found out that stock markets are similar to function that has waves when θ or X change. And I personally love math, so connections and relationships between these two subjects give me happiness.

After finishing explanation on determining the trends of stock markets, I will film my video in vacation and post it on YouTube. There will basically be 3~6(I am not sure how many) videos that explain one thing in each. For example, the first one will be an introduction to stock market, and then the second video will probably be the first strategy for investment.  I will start my new topic the next time I have Valiant Venture Project in class. It is feasible that “bond fund” will be the new topic, which is a complicated one. I think the introduction of new topic takes two weeks because it provides basic understanding of a subject that everything should be clearly stated. Therefore, my expectation is to finish half of the introduction on the first Friday of March. But the main focus for now is to finish the video!

Everything is going pretty well, except that overwhelming homework occupies the majority of time. Thus, time management will be necessary for stable production of  accomplishments of Valiant Venture Project. I do not have problems in terms of communicating with my group since the only person I could talk to is myself~~

Everyone has his/her favourite car. Thus, there must be a huge population that does not want Nissan or Mitsubishi just because they are cheap. It tells people that instead of dreaming Nissan or Mitsubishi, everyone should have one Porsche. It shows stereotype because this advertisement makes majority as reality, while belittling its competitors. The words make people feel that it is no use to dream a Nissan or a Mitsubishi, and Porsche is the only one that should be dreamed.

 

To show that fast food service is slow, the advertisement uses a turtle to exaggerate. It makes people feel that fast food service is old-fashion and there should be new generation that takes over fast food service. This advertisement makes an incorrect assumption that everyone is tired of fast food service because of low efficiency, but instead of giving some examples, it assaults other industries by words and turtle.

 

The advertisement is trying to tell people that girls will also like these guns. However, girls do not necessarily like or hate toy guns. It shows gender generalisation since the company makes girls as those who do not play toys, while putting a girl playing its toys so that the company has successfully made people believe that their toys are fun and appropriate for either boys and girls. Toys are not necessarily for boys, but for everyone.

This is a stereotype since Australia is not the best place in the world in everyone’s mind. It tries to make people feel that Australia is clean and natural by the pictures the company chooses. By the word “nothing,” it belittles other countries’ beauty since it literally makes people consider that Australia has more fun things than others, which is a propaganda. Clean water, sunny day and white cloud are propagandas because it shows everywhere in Australia is natural and fabulous.

In this advertisement, McDonald tries to make people think that french fries is as healthy as potatoes, although they were processed by some chemical reactions and steps. By making this, people feel that McDonald provides fresh french fries that is 100% made by potatoes. And that is a propaganda since it changes the way people consider french fries, which are usually considered as unhealthy food. Basically, it is impossible that french fries have the same quality as potatoes, but by advertising this picture, McDonald has planted that its french fries is fresh, and has same nutritions as having potatoes.

This directly tells people that the company’s products are super fresh and great for human body. The splashing water might make people feel that its products have no additives and is 100% natural, like water. By making a bottle into several lemons, it shows that the freshness of its products are equivalent to a normal lemon from a farm. The text, “Lemon inside” is also a propaganda since it is impossible to have a real lemon in a drink, unless it is cut into tiny pieces or processed by factories. It exaggerates the reality and makes customers think that its drinks are as fresh and healthy as lemon.

This obviously tells people that if they wear Puma’s shoes, they could run as fast as leopard, which is a flagrant exaggeration. It lets customers think that Puma shoes let them run super fast without practicing. Instead of saying the truth of running fast, Puma tries to hide some elements so that it could not only gain wealth from this product, but also changes the way people consider a sneaker, where propaganda is apparently shown.

 

The incident happened in Lindt Chocolat Cafe that is located in Martin Place, a busy shopping area.

It was confirmed that those who died in this incident were Lindt Cafe Manager Tori Johnson, 34 and lawyer Katrina Dawson, 38 as well as a gunman. Four people were injured, but the names were unknown.

The gunman, Man Haron Monis, seized 17 hostages in a Sydney cafe. Names of those who were kidnapped are unknown. Some hostages were forced to hold a flag with Arabic words that stated “There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the prophet of god.”

The Investigation

“Understandably, there is a lot of speculation, but it will take time to clarify exactly what happened … and why,” Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told reporters Tuesday.

The cases have just ended and the investigation is starting.

Some hostages had allegedly posted some messages to social networking sites. However, police urged media not to show them because of personal privacy.

Police stated that it was feasible but not proven that there might be more than one suspects. It was unclear if this case was related to terrorism.

According to New South Wales Police commissioner Andrew Scipione, this is all they get, and the main focus for now is not to jeopardize those people who are still in the building.

Hundreds of police blanketed the city, and streets were completely closed. Citizens were told to stay away from Martin Place, site of the state premier’s office and the Reserve Bank of Australia for security concerns.

 

Exactly What Happened(According to BBC)

09:45 Monday local time- Police are informed to go to the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Sydney’s Martin Place.

10:09- Man Haron Monis is seen wearing a bandana.

12:30- Prime Minister Tony Abbott goes on national TV and states it as “deeply concerning incident.”

16:00-17:00- A total of five people, three men, two women, successfully fled from the fire exit of cafe.

18:30- Negotiation between police and Man Haron Monis starts.

02:20- Some hostages escape, the number is unknown, simultaneously, commandos go into the cafe.

02:48- Police confirm the end of case, while causing three death and seventeen injuries.

The scene of rescue operation was broadcast live on TV.

“I walked up to the door and then everyone was sitting down and the door’s locked which is pretty weird because it’s never locked and there was one guy walking around with a hat and a beard,” a man who identified himself as Bruno, a worker of the cafe. The person who was walking around with a hat and a beard might possibly be the Man Haron Monis, but there was no clear evidence to show that the person was the gunman.

Condolences to the Death and Injuries

“Katrina was one of our best and brightest barristers who will be greatly missed by her colleagues and friends at the NSW Bar,” the New South Wales Bar Association said in a statement.

Johnson’s family also released a statement. It read, in part: “We are so proud of our beautiful boy Tori, gone from this Earth but forever in our memories as the most amazing life partner, son and brother we could ever wish for.”

Although the misery has ended, casualties have been created, and now, public and association provided condolences to the hostages’ families, while investigating the truth of this incident.

There was a superstition that was told for 2000 years- there was a world called Columbia Kingdom that had a lot of strange traditions and scary tricks. For example, aquaceph,

In order to get the permission of heliolega, the person required money in order to conduct intercosm. 

However, nobody could live to tell the others because of unknown reasons, so these were all unproven. 

Hello everyone. We made progress for our new board game! Unlike other posts, this week, however, does not have any pictures. Because Jasper, Jeffrey and I were gaining new information, either videos or websites on internet, and typing new ideas in this document.

Instead of just thinking every single rule ourselves, we tried to find some resources that actually gave us basic understanding of “real baseball board game.” Remember, WE DID NOT COPY.

Although we found some useful websites, we only used little parts they suggested. For example, the video uses two dices and shows all possible combinations, but we used three dices because we wanted to create greater possibility for single. The way we defined different kinds of hits or outs were easier, but three dices created 216 combinations. In addition to that, we added special deck, which enables players to change their fate!

I learned that this board game would be harder than last one since it requires greater efforts. I decided that things we will create should be beautiful, not just acceptable. However, despite the great efforts, I enjoyed doing this because baseball is almost equivalent to my life, and expressing my excitement by making board game is really creative and fabulous.

My group was kind of delayed because of some unexpected incidents(I always forgot to bring materials.) Therefore, we must start and work hard on making ideas into reality next week. The first step for making a board game is always the instruction board and the special cards deck. Therefore, I expect that we can at least finish the instruction board and most of special cards next week. Furthermore, I hope that before winter vacation, we are able to finish special cards, instruction board, scoreboard, as well as some combinations of dices. According to our timeline, we only have two months to do, including winter vacation, so my group has to be efficient.

This is the first time I experienced setbacks- delayed work. That was all my fault, since I did not bring materials on last Friday. We will be chasing the timeline for whole month, if necessary. Fortunately, that can be fixed by working harder than before. This is a warning of laziness, which tells me to work efficiently and accurately. In addition to that, I will inform my teammates that we have to do work rapidly because of this.

For communication with my teammates, they are all kind and thoughtful. They listened to what I thought, and always provided useful ideas. They are really good, and it is a pleasure to work with them, especially doing my favourite sport- baseball.
