15 Minutes of Fame Summative

Inspirational Poem:

Life is not surviving, but should be living.

Life is not tasty, like Japanese curry, sticky soup of insipidity.

Life is not an identical path, challenges of outer reality.

Embrace obstacles, live in a sense of joy.

Life is unique, really extraordinary.

Do not live as if you were surviving,

In your childhood, go out; be entertaining

In your education, read more; be studying,

In your occupation, make money; be working,

In your decades of life, create something,

Until you are at rest, fulfill your life with everything.

Surviving is just a pointless point of view; an azure ocean without a fish.

However.

Living makes your life significant, follow your dream, not only flies,

but makes your azure ocean full of fish.

Hope Poem:

My hope feels like the warmth of rising sun with a whispering anger of revolutional Rangers.

My hope tastes like bittersweet lasagna with the decoration of spicy chicken in a place where the breeze of hot wind invades the freshness.

My hope smells like the humongous ice of North Pole that cools out the injustice.

My hope looks like a tangible soul of brightness in the darkest forest.

My hope sounds like the song of angry men, echoing in the highest mountain of isolation.

My hope is to fight for the equalization of human beings regardless of their physicality, and to continually serve the basics of democracy.

Discussion After Posting Summative Product on Internet

I have opened up a discussion on several community websites, and here are my questions that people could answer:

1) How do you think that the use of camera angle in a commercial alters audience’s perspectives?
2) Do you think that bias should exist in a commercial? Why?
3) How does this vid tell you to be aware of propaganda in a commercial?
4) What’s your feelings/emotions after watching the video?

According to a commenter, he said that the background kind of described that users are outgoing. He also added that by filming the person doing math questions, it makes several stereotypes about MIT students.

I found out that people agreed that  bias should exist in a commercial since nobody would purchase the products since the audience would just consider the products as mediocre ones. My video did not directly tell people to be aware of bias, but we just showed a strong comparison between reality and commercials, which provided a sense and image of propaganda.

The feeling a commenter had was that the video taught a lot of knowledge, and it was also kind of humorous.

Where I Am From

I am from a forest of nature, a center of culture.

From YuGiOh Cards and Detective Conan.

I am from the Dandelion’s beauty, a frosty place of sunshine.

From a plethora of verdant grass.

Accompanied by fresh air, a pleasant sun.

I am from a family that gambles with money put on table, from Yellow, Anna, and Daisy.

I am from a family that loves money and teaches me positive attitude, which shines in a complete darkness.

From the practice of honesty and integrity. Told to be successful in both pecuniary enjoyment and inner mentality.

I am from a traditional Buddhism family that advocates equalization of human beings and other species, in a golden shrine of immortality.

I am from Kaohsiung, the central support of my beloved country. From the northern stinky tofu to southern rice dumpling; acrossing the dominative Jade Mountain and developed ShinChu Technology Center.

From the teacher, of education greatness, and my grandfather that has huge understanding of electrical infinity.

I, fortunately, am from a blessed society with a future brightness, as well as a decoration of blossom sunflower; from a city where the anger of young generation has risen to the horizon of outer atmosphere, which then creates democracy.

I am from a family filled with laughter, sadness, happiness, and emotions. And… A Cultural Center that not only endures my sorrow while cherishes my love to family, but also, a spectacular place, where, National Anthem is played.

Bond Investing: An Easy Way to Do It

Yo, it’s me again. I have more accomplishments during these two weeks!

Over these two weeks, I have done more research on the strategies of bond investing and some traps that an issuer might use. I found out that bond investing is relatively simple than stock market since it does not have so many fluctuations. Investors only need to take care of the risks of failures as well as the interests. Despite its simplicity, I personally prefer stock market since it takes more skills and judgements. Instead of just buying a bond like saving money in a bank, I would like to be a risk taker and get more profits from doing them. However, I also respect and agree with those who like to invest on bond debenture.

Basically, I just have two pages of research done, which is here.

I talked about how stock market is different from bond, and how bond is similar to savings. In addition,  I pointed out some manipulations of words and duplicity an issuer might use, so I provided a formula to calculate the net profit after certain amount of time. For next week, I would just have some strategies written out. And in spring break, I will finish my video. (Sorry that I did not do it in Chinese New Year. I could not update Imovie no matter how my dad and I fixed it. I would have to borrow other’s computer to do it.)

Bond investing is really simple, so it probably takes three weeks to finish researching for the last week of school, I will just write scripts for recording. However, I still hope that my video is high quality and the video really helps people.

The only virtual setback is that my Imovie is broken, which greatly decreases my efficiency. I do not know why I cannot update Imovie, so that is a really big problem that I have to use alternative plan. In short, everything is in progress, except for the main part. But that will not hinder my knowledge exploration since my main goal is to learn economy and help others understand economy.

Figurative Language In Songs

Yo, me again. Here is the video link that Linus, Joshua, Jasper and I did, which showed some types of figurative language. Hope u enjoy it!

FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE, NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tnb90kSF-Q&feature=youtu.be

In the video, I was in charge of alliteration and repetition. I have learned that the use of repetition could stress a certain image or idea that the author tries to convey. For the alliteration, it creates familiarity that also gives strong awareness to the audience. In addition to that, there are a lot of powerful poetic devices, such as simile or personification, could also bring different perspectives because they compare two things, and automatically insert a clear point to the audience.

Bias Makes Your Life Fake

Our product was a video comparing a well-filmed commercial and reality. We showed some manipulations of camera angles that a commercial might use and a series of propaganda that changed people’s perspectives. In addition, we explained stereotypic statements, the effects of biases on the audience, and the purpose of doing them after our DIY commercial. So, basically our products, including Linus and me, is a comparison of commercials and reality.

THE VIDEOS WERE MADE BY IAN AND LINUS. Enjoy it

Linus and I made the video together, and we kind of split the work equally. I drew the CH Pad, which was a white-screen pad being used everywhere and the professional commercial video. In addition, I did some explanations of the effects of biases. Linus did the reality clip, explanation of the effects of biases, video adjustment, and animation.
