Eric Chen’s CAS Journey – Sep 2020 Edition

As part of the “almost monthly” reflection throughout my journey in the world of CAS, I am proud to report my progress throughout the last month with this short blog post.

Throughout the past month, I have been extensively planning for a House Competition that would count toward as one of my required CAS projects, which are meant to be extensive and collaborative. Throughout the previous year, I have noticed that there weren’t enough competitions to fully bring up the house spirit (that may be caused by the ongoing pandemic), so I have been planning a series of competitions to bring the house system to its full potential this year. This event is one of them. I can’t tell you all the details but here’s a brief about the event.

So it’s basically a talent show competition that was loosely based on the hit American TV show America’s Got Talent, but with some of the rules altered to better fit KAS. That event will take place during a Wednesday during BIG Time (for sure) and advisory (not sure…). A 10-people judge panel will decide the top three, who will earn extra points for their house (all others will also earn house points to express our gratitude for their awesome performance.) I have contacted the House Coordinator, Mr. Brodhead, and shared my plans with him as well as the House Committee. Well, I am proud to report that the House Committee was actually pretty impressed about my work, but they have postponed this event proposal due to the upcoming Spirit Week. Mr. Brodhead also told me that I could use this time to further refine my rules and procedures before the real event takes place. I believe that this is great news for my CAS project, and I will certainly refine my rules and procedures to better fit the KAS community before they can enjoy this wonderfully-prepared show!

Well, I’m going to find something else to do while I wait…
