Unit 3 Work and Machines Reflection

Before we start this unit, I know almost nothing about work and machines. The only thing I know about it that there are simple machines that can help us, but I don’t know how. After this unit, I have learned more about the simple machines.

One major experiment we do in this unit is the inclined plane, which is changing the angle of the inclined plane, and see if distance change, what will happen to the work. For the lab report, I think I can improve on the Criteria Civ, which is commenting on the validity and reliability of your results. I need to explain more.

I like the part about the simple machines, and want to know more about it, because it can help us in real life. I want to know more kinds of simple machine. Also, I want to know the best angle/length of each simple machines, which best mean that using the smallest force.

Our next unit is about energy. Energy is defined as the capacity of a physical system to perform work. It is also a vocabulary we’ve seen in the lsat unit.

Amur Leopard Problem and Solution

Amur Leopard is the rarest large cat in the world, there are only 57 left now. It is increasing from 30 in 2007 to 57 in now though. Why are they endangered?
Problem
The Amur Leopard is endangered because they are poached for their skin, the pictures in the left shows that an amur leopard is poached illegally by the poachers, their skin was sold about $500 to $1,000 in the village of Barabash, it is a serious problem because it is the economy for the village, so it is hard to change the solution.
Another reason of Amur Leopard endangered is because their habitat lost. Many of Amur leopard’s habitat is destroyed by people because they are building roads and cutting down trees through the forests. Sometimes wild fire also cause habitat lost.
Solution
The wwf (world wildlife fund) pass law to to stop the russian government to build roads through the forest, and lobbied the Russian government to reroute a planned oil pipeline that would have endangered the leopard’s habitat.

Individuals and Societies (Year 2) Unit 3 Reflection

Individuals and Societies (Year 2) Unit 3 Reflection

We start this unit in January 2017 to April 2017, the statement of inquiry is “Time, place and space influences the culture and governance of societies”, which also show the key concept of time, place and space.

In this unit, we did a game that is base on answering question/doing assignment and level up and there are 5 levels to do. We first make a coat of arm that is created with different symbols that represent my personality. (shown below)

As we finished our assignment, we move from serf, to peasant, knight and lord. For every level, we do different things about different topic, but all of them are related to medieval europe. At last, we make a board game about what we have learn in the whole unit, it is counted as our summative, which is assessed in criteria A and C. (shown below)

In this unit, I learn about new knowledge about Medieval Europe, also the skill of communicating my knowledge through questions. With the summative we made, I learn about how to apply my knowledge into question.

I really enjoy making my board game, it was hard but also fun, I like the part of drawing my game piece, also creating question cost me a lot of time but it was fun to review what I had learn in this unit.

I think I can do more challenge assignment in the game to earn more point which can make my grade better, and I can write more details in my assignment.
