In the novel Rules, Cynthia Lord demonstrate that people can get equal right when other stand up for them, like how Catherine did for David. When David got bullied by Ryan, Catherine said: “You jerk!” She screams at Ryan so loud, that David bursts into tears. (109) Lord prove that people stand up for other to make sure everyone is treated fairly by including Catherine standing up for David. Catherine represent the kind people, and David represent the people that have defect and been treated differently. When Catherine stand up for David, Ryan stop the action of bullying. Like how we can speak up for other and ensure they have their right. Lord prove that anyone can help the people with defect by using some short sentences, and everyone should have equal right and chance.
