No Chinese Spoken Outside of Chinese Class

Take a minute, to imagine what it would be like, if you were writing a worksheet that will help you improve your English. Then, you hear a faint voice from the teachers and Chinese being spoken everywhere, you even hear some distracting swear words in Chinese. Then, you get bad scores. This is a very serious issue at KAS. I think there should be a rule against speaking Chinese outside of Chinese class at KAS. I think it should be like this because parents pay money for kids to learn English, not Chinese, kids can get more opportunities, and kids will say less bad words.

My first reason is because kids come to KAS to learn English, not Chinese. Speaking Chinese is distracting for students who are trying to learn English. If there is a rule against speaking Chinese outside of Chinese class, then students can learn English much easier. Bubble Ho is having a hard time learning English because to much Chinese is being spoken around her. If kids can not learn English well, then it is a waste of money to parents.

Another reason is because kids are saying bad words in Chinese, and that’s a problem. In Chinese class, kids will not say it because the Chinese teachers can understand. In English classes though, teachers understand only some of the bad words in Chinese. That means kids are saying them over and over, because of that, kids are learning more of them now.

Lastly, if kids can speak English and Chinese well, then they can get more opportunities. If you have lots of opportunities, then you can earn more money. If you don’t have an opportunity at all, than you will not have enough money to get into University. You might even become poor!

Parents might say, “Then how will my kids learn Chinese then?” Your kids can still speak Chinese in Chinese class, cram schools, and at home. That is probably enough. Parents could also argue that they never heard any kids say any bad words, but for me, as a kid, I hear them almost everyday. Most adults do not hear because kids do not want to say it in front of adults, or they will get into serious trouble.

Those are my three reasons of why Chinese should not be spoken anywhere on campus besides Chinese class. I took a survey on the class, and four-fifths of the class agreed with me. I hope we can do our very best to make this school a better place for our students.

Chinese Once Per Week

~This is Why We Should Have Chinese Once Per Week~

Do you think the kids are complaining too much about Chinese class? Are the kids tired and stressed when they come to your classroom? Are kids not even finishing their homework and all you end up doing is yelling at them? I think Chinese teachers aren’t supposed to yell at students, and I think it should be banned. Students in China get yelled at by the teacher in front of the whole class, and then the teacher rips their homework, and makes them redo it. I think Chinese should be once per week, because this is and American school, the homework’s too much, and we could have time for much more important stuff in school.

One reason why we should have Chinese once per week is because of the fact that this is an American school. Kids who have just moved to Taiwan and know only a little Chinese are learning Chinese that is too hard for them. Lots of kids still think that there is a lot of homework; especially kids who have spoke more English than Chinese. For me, as a Canadian, I think it is a lot. In Canada I didn’t even have to do Chinese at school, and I only spoke Chinese I didn’t write much of it. Besides, the only words I learned when I was living in Canada were “big,” “small,” and the numbers.

Another reason is because kids have more homework in Chinese classes than others. Kids stay up late doing homework and that is not healthy. They also have to study for other classes, and sometimes they do not get to study enough, that will make kids do badly in other classes.

Lastly, if we made Chinese be once per week, we could have more time for other subjects. Math for instance, is very important. P.E. is important too. P.E. is important because that makes kids do well in other classes, which means that they will do well in Chinese, too. P.E. can actually be much more important then Chinese, because kids need the exercise so that they are more unlikely to get tired or stressed during classes. If they get tiredness or stress, they wouldn’t do well because they will not be listening much to the teacher.

You might say that this school is in Taiwan, and we should learn Chinese too, but I think Chinese once per week should be enough. Besides, this is an American school. Also it could be said that the Chinese homework is very easy and not too much work, but only two kids in my class think so. You could also argue that we have enough time to finish it at home, but everyone in my class has after school classes. Three kids in my class have more than four after school classes each week.

We should have Chinese once per week. Once that happens, you will not regret it. You will end up with more kids turning in their Chinese homework, which will make you much happier than before, right? Other than the fact that this is an American school, students going to sleeping late, and having time for other activities, there are still tons and tons of more reasons of why we should have Chinese once per week.
