But it was only around their “Yes I Am” era that Mamamoo started to cement themselves as legitimate artists as well as becoming icons for feminism in the industry.

  • The music video is comprised of the members acting confident and funny
  • That song spotlights each member’s unique qualities and teaches the audience to not be so focused on typical beauty standards or expectations by accepting what makes them special.

Their next project was “4 seasons” which took them about 1 1/2 years to finish.

  • 4 albums, each album is centered around 1 member
  • 4 genres, vastly different
  • Showcases each member’s unique voices/talents
  • Concerts in Taiwan, East Asia, Brazil

Through all their music and projects, they’ve established themselves as strong, independent artists who break away from the mold and continue to push the boundaries of music, fashion, and beauty standards!

  1. Hey Paula! Reading through your article, I found it really interesting Mamamoo focused on each member with their different albums. You also said how “Yes I am” highlights the difference between each member and the message of how everyone is perfect the way they are. I didn’t know that they emphasized the idea that everyone is beautiful. I think this is extremely important especially since many people compare themselves to famous celebrities. It’s very refreshing to see that Mamamoo is advocating for individuality through their works of music. Have Mamamoo faced any criticism or obstacles because of what they advocate? Are there specific stories where their music has affect their audiences?

  2. Hi Paula. I was very intrigued by the 4 season project, because I have never seen any artists that have projects like that. I thought that most artist either have a consistent or slowly-changing musical style, never have I thought that there would be artist that would have such project. I was wondering what are the genres of the four up-coming albums?
