Trailer Project Summary:

Throughout the whole year, we have worked with a biomedical school in America and have made a collaboration project. I was assigned to create a storyboard and script for a trailer. The trailer has to be on a book that we have read before. I was teamed-up with a student from the biomedical school. He used my storyboard and script to create a trailer. I picked The Martian, by Andy Weir as my movie trailer on which to base my trailer. This is a story of Mark Watney who went to Mars on a mission, but got stuck there.

Reflection After Finishing The Storyboard & Script:

I have learned many things throughout this project. Generating an idea, then creating a plan to carry it out, and organizing it. To generate the whole idea for the trailer is really hard, since you start from nothing. After brainstorming for a day, I had a satisfactory idea, then I had to plan and organize it to make the text flow fluently.

Teamwork was integral. My teammate from America brought my idea to life. Since we only communicated with each other through the script and storyboard (the internet), it was a bit difficult. My job was to create a well-written script so that my partner could understand the whole thing. Referring to the opening picture of my trailer, a drawing of Earth and Mars, I wrote: “180 spin shot and fade to black screen. Narrator: ‘It’s space……’”. Then my partner would illustrate what I had in mind. All of us had to put our trust in each other. If one of us didn’t understand or got confused, then the final production wouldn’t be done well.

Reflection After Watching The Video:

After watching the video, the final trailer, it ended up being EPIC and AWESOME! The visuals were fantastic! All the shots that I have mentioned in the script and storyboard were all filmed. The best part about the video that I think was Pierce stuck Mark Watney’s face onto himself throughout the whole video. It was a very creative idea. But I think there are some parts that could be improved after reflecting on it. I believe the biggest part that can be improved in the film is the narrations. It would be fantastic if there is a narration. My partner changed the way what I wanted the video to be, and it still turns out to be still very fascinating. Great job Pierce! 1 thumbs up for you!

Conclusion:

This was a great experience working with students in America. I think that our group did an awesome job. The quality of the video was superb. Most parts of the movie trailer were filmed just how I imagined it to be. The only thing I was disappointed about was the narration part. But it didn’t end up affecting the whole trailer a lot. This was a very special learning experience for me. I learned how advanced that modern technology is in daily life and how people can make these creative and entertaining videos.
