Flag Reflection 2

How could you determine if it is successful?

I can determine if its successful by creating a survey and check how many like and dislike to determine if it is successful. I can also ask people if the flag clearly present the characteristic of Turkmenistan. If there are parts that are unclear I can ask for suggestion to improve on it next time. Some questions that can be asked through Google form are like “what symbolisms do you see in this flag?” and “How would you rate the look of this flag from 1 – 10?”

How well does your final flag design match the specifications you made in the assignment “A Rough Plan”?

My final flag design matched all of my design specifications. I kept all the major designs in the Turkmenistan’s flag. I basically simplify the original design and rearrange the symbols, so that everything on the flag is balanced out. Generally, my rough sketches and final design are basically exactly the same. I am very satisfied with my final flag design.

How could your flag be improved?

Overall the flag is great in my opinion, but there are some minor details that can be smooth out. For example, the crescent in the flag. The top tip of the crescent looks thinner than the bottom tip of the crescent. The stripe of my flag is not is not consistent. For example, the left top corner of the stripe looks wider than the right bottom corner. Those are the two minor mistakes that can be improved on my flag design.

If your flag was actually used, what might its impact be?

I believe that the Turkmenistan’s flag will receive more attention from other places. The only major consequence is that people from Turkmenistan might believe that I have deleted the most important aspect on the flag. Which is their famous carpet design. Turkmenistan’s original flag design have a complex carpet design on the left side of the flag, which they are famously known for. But I believe by simplifying the carpet design, I can grab the audience’s attention more since people probably can’t memorize its complex design. While just looking at red stripe, it can remind people of Turkmenistan’s famous carpets.
