Learning From Blog Unit

Blog Post web. 2 Oct. 2015.

I never thought that I could learn new skills from writing KAS blog posts. I always felt like they were work, but after constantly writing new ones, I have learned and dramatically improved many skills. During the blog unit, I created six posts. Three of them were group work.

Once I started to reflect on my writing, I noticed how I could improve my skills and applied them while creating the draft. There are varieties of topics to write about. Once I started typing, I learned different ways to express my writing style and my voice.

The first significant skill I learned is organization. Never start writing everything that pops into your mind. You should always plan out your ideas and organize them. Then your ideas grow in an orderly way.

The second significant skill I learned is word usage. Don’t repeat words. The audience will get bored. Words like: because, so, then, after, will make the audience bored. You can use the thesaurus to find similar words to make your blog post better and more interesting to your audience.

The last significant skill I learned is how to attract audiences to read your blog post. Before someone clicks into your posts, they always look at the front of your site. I learn by writing an interesting introduction with an image or a video, it attracts audiences to look at my blog post.

In this unit, I have learned many skills from my KAS blog posts: Organization, word usage, and attractiveness of your blog. I can apply these skills in my future writing assignments. The following video shows you how you can improve your blog posts.
