My Digital Citizenship

Over the past few years, the internet has been used throughout daily life. It’s really important to have good digital citizenship. Digital Citizenship is the norms of appropriate, responsible technology use. People use social media very often. For example, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. The users should know what is considered appropriate.

On Facebook, you can do many things. For example, post pictures, type comments, and send messages. These things can cause many social problems on the internet. People can also post inappropriate pictures on facebook. When I see an inappropriate picture, I report the picture and inform the teacher. When people send mean messages to others on facebook, I take a screenshot of the message and report it to the teacher for cyber bullying.

People also watch videos on the internet. People use youtube, Vimeo, Netflix, yahoo screen and etc. On youtube, there are many inappropriate videos. When there is an inappropriate video, I report the video on Youtube. I think that people shouldn’t post inappropriate videos in the first place. It is against the law. Everyone should have responsibility for their own actions and be accountable.

On the internet, you can find anything. Sometimes students would copy and paste from the internet. This is plagiarizing. When I’m on the internet finding an answer, I don’t copy and paste, even though it’s the answer. I try to use my own words to answer it. And always cite the resources that you have used.

In conclusion, the internet is really powerful. I think that you should respect each other on the internet. You need to have a good digital presence something I strive to do. I respect others on social medias. I would report people if they put inappropriate posts on the internet. To have a good digital citizenship is very important.

This video is about what you need to pay attention to on the internet.
